One Direction’s Act Of Kindness Thrills Seriously Ill Fan Named Georgia

One Direction stars Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan are well known for their efforts to support charitable causes. Widely believed to be the world’s biggest boy-band, One Direction recently launched Action/1D, which aims to use their massive fan base to put pressure on world leaders to make real positive changes on things like climate change and world poverty. It was recently reported in the Inquisitr that Louis Tomlinson donated some $3 million to children’s charity “Believe In Magic,” whilst other members of One Direction donated items for auction in aid of the charity that supports terminally ill children.

Now, One Direction have reached out to a seriously ill 5-year-old girl and helped to make her dreams come true. The Daily Post reports that little Georgia Edwards was heartbroken back in August when it was revealed that One Direction were to split, at least temporarily, in the new year.

Georgia suffers from Rett syndrome, a genetic neurological disorder that means Georgia cannot walk, talk, or use her hands. Georgia’s illness means that her body does not obey signals from her brain. After hearing that One Direction were breaking up, Georgia’s family launched a campaign on Facebook in an attempt to win Georgia the chance to meet her heroes.

Georgia’s campaign was spotted online by One Direction star Louis Tomlinson’s mother, Johannah Deakin, who brought Georgia’s plight to Louis’ attention. Louis, who is to become a father in the new year, was touched by Georgia’s battle. As a result, Louis arranged for Georgia and her family to attend One Direction’s show in Manchester last night. Louis did not stop there, though. He arranged for Georgia to have backstage access, and the bubbly little girl got to spend a whole hour with One Direction. Louis even made a short video, in which he told little Georgia that he and the rest of One Direction were looking forward to meeting Georgia.

Georgia’s mother, Katie, said that the whole family were excited by having the chance to meet One Direction. Apparently, Georgia did not sleep for the four days leading up to last night’s One Direction show because she was so excited. Georgia’s mom explained how excited Georgia was to be meeting One Direction.

“It is pretty exciting here as you can imagine. We have been given back stage passes at 6pm and then have been invited to watch the gig. Georgia has been absolutely thrilled and has not slept for the past four nights.”

“I think she likes them all, but has now been tending towards Louis. I really can’t wait to see her face.”

Sadly, Georgia’s health has been deteriorating over the past year so hopefully meeting One Direction will give her a real boost.

In other One Direction news, You magazine reports that Ed Sheeran has said that he does not expect to be invited to write any more songs for the band. Sheeran wrote a number of songs for One Direction and has writing credits on both their second and fourth albums. Sheeran told MTV that One Direction are now at “a point where they know how to write songs.”

Sheeran revealed that he wrote the song “18” for One Direction whilst he was in the bathroom.

“I was in Denmark and I wrote it in my hotel bathroom and I was like, ‘This sounds like a One Direction song. I emailed it to them, and they were like, ‘I really like it,’ so it wasn’t even me having to write a song. It was just like, I’ll see what they think.”

The current One Direction tour wraps up at the end of this month, and their fifth album is released on November 13.
