Renee Zellweger As Bridget Jones Is Back: Check Out The First Photos From New Film

Renee Zellweger is back as Bridget Jones in the third film in the franchise and there’s a photo to prove it.

The actress, 46, looks more like her old self in the new promo shot for the movie, which is called Bridget Jones Baby. In the photo, Renee is shown clutching an iPad and flashing that winning smile that made audiences fall in love with her when Bridget Jones Diary premiered in 2001. Bridget Jones Diary grossed over 250 million dollars in worldwide ticket sales, according to Box Office Mojo. The sequel, Bridget Jones Diary: The Edge of Reason was just as successful.

For the first Bridget Jones movie, Rennee Zellweger gained 30 pounds for the role but it doesn’t look like any of that was necessary for the upcoming movie. According to Us Weekly, this is the first movie role for Zellwegger since she took a six-year break from acting. The last time film audiences saw Renee on screen was in 2009’s Case 39 which also starred Bradley Cooper.

This photo of Renee Zellweger looking a lot like the Bridget Jones we remember is a far cry from last year when Zellwegger appeared on the red carpet for Elle Magazine’s 21’st Annual Women in Hollywood Awards. Numerous media outlets and social media users remarked that Zellwegger looked almost unrecognizable. Many people speculated that the drastic change in her appearance was the result of extensive plastic surgery or at least a good deal of Botox. The Renee Zellweger plastic surgery rumors spread like wildfire.

At the time, plastic surgeon. Dr Alex Karidis of London’s Karaidis Clinic told The Daily Mail that he thinks Renee Zellweger may have had an upper eye lift. There are certain clues on her face that indicate this, Kardis said.

“The distance between the brow and her eye is much smaller than before.”

The plastic surgeon, who has never had Zellweger as a patient, added that the Renee’s brows don’t appear to be as high as before, which indicates that she may have had a brow lift.

As for line-less forehead Renee Zellweger was sporting, Karidis said he believed that was the work of Botox.

“Her forehead is smooth – you would expect more expressive wrinkles when she smiles which indicates a possible small dose of Botox between the eyelid and eye,” he said.

Other cosmetic surgery professionals agreed that most of the Renee Zellweger face transformation was probably the result of non-surgical procedures like Botox or Thermage treatments.

“At 44, Renee should have some signs of wrinkles and loss of elasticity, however her face is line free and smooth, which suggests to me that she may have had a Thermage treatment.” said Dr Yannis Alexandrides, who has also never been Renee’s doctor.

Thermage Treatment involves the use of a radio frequency to tighten elastin fibres and stimulate the production of collagen. It’s meant to steadily improve skin quality and is supposed to be great for people who want a more youthful appearance but don’t want to have surgery. Thermage for cellulite is also a popular treatment.

When asked about her new face, Renee Zellweger seemed pretty unperturbed by the public’s reaction to it.

“I’m glad folks think I look different! I’m living a different, happy, more fulfilling life, and I’m thrilled that perhaps it shows,” Zellweger said to People Magazine at the time.

Bridget Jones Baby will follow the hapless British publishing executive we’ve come to know and love as she navigates life as a forty-something year old woman, IMDB reports.Directed by Sharon Maguire, the film also stars Colin Firth who will be reprising his role as Mark Darcy from, Bridget Jones Diary (2001) and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (2004). The film will also star Patrick Dempsey, best known for his work on Grey’s Anatomy, a show that he left last season.

The film franchise is based on a book series of the same name which was written by Helen Fielding.
