Selena Gomez On New Song, ‘Me & The Rhythm,’ New Album, And The Single Life

Selena Gomez released a hot new single just a week before her highly anticipated Revival album drops next week.

Selena Gomez’s new album, Revival, is due out Oct. 9, but she decided to release the buzz single, “Me & The Rhythm,” in the nick of time. The 23-year-old has been promoting her second solo studio album across the globe. Gomez also recently graced the magazine covers of Elle,Flare, and Wonderland.

According to the entertainer, her new album is a mix of sultry songs and empowerment anthems, which showcase where she’s at in her life.

“Me & the Rhythm” is different from Selena’s previous singles, “Good For You” and “Same Old Love.” It’s more upbeat compared to the others, both of which had slower tempos and sultry sounds. Direct Lyrics called Selena’s new song “a melodic, vintag-y dance track.” It also has tropical and island beats in it, if you listen closely. Any of Selena’s fans who pre-ordered Revival on iTunes will already be able to listen to the new song, but you can also check it out in the video below.

The buzz single is co-written by Gomez herself, along with Justin Tranters, Julia Michaels, Robin Fredriksson, and Mattias Larsso. In the song, Gomez talks about how all she needs the sound of good music to get her body moving. “I’d be lying/ If I said I didn’t need/ Yeah the rhythm, me and the rhythm,” she reveals in the new single. It’s a mature version of the dancey and pop-ish songs off her previous album, Stars Dance. Gomez’s fans who have grown up with her will love this buzz single.

The official single cover for “Me & The Rhythm” is super sexy as well. It shows the singer looking at herself in the mirror as she wears a black bondage-style bra.

Selena Gomez wants her fans to know that she’s no longer that little girl on the Disney channel. In her new interview with Flare magazine, she talks about her new album, which highlights her transition from teen idol to a sexy young singer.

“I was really fighting for this transition. Ultimately, I’m not 16 anymore. I’m a young woman, and I’m growing up and trying to do it in a way I feel comfortable with.”

Revival is Selena’s first solo studio album since ending her contract with Disney-owned Hollywood Records and Interscope. Selena had a new hand in her album by writing and producing it, as well.

“That was a big deal, because they were partnering with me as opposed to trying to mold me or shape me into something.”

In addition to releasing new music and talking about her new album, Gomez will allow her fans to see her perform soon. Last night, she revealed on Instagram that she will be going on a world tour in 2016, in honor of her new album.

“I am launching my ‘Revival’ world tour. I will be going from the US to Canada from May until July and later in the year, going around cities.”

Fans can learn more about her tour, including the dates and ticket prices at SelenaGomez.com. Somehow, the singer has found the time to date in the middle of creating her very adult album. Selena told Flare magazine that she has been enjoying the single life and going on traditional dates here and there, although she wouldn’t name names. Selena also revealed that you will never catch her swiping left or right on the popular dating app, Tinder.

“I would never go on Tinder! I think it would scare me. I go on dates. It’s not that difficult — I’m a nice young lady. But that’s not my focus.”

Selena Gomez’s for the past year has been about empowering herself and tackling body shamers. It’s one of the reasons why she posed semi-nude on the cover of her Revival album. Gomez told the magazine, “I feel confident, I feel empowered, I feel in control.” With her new music and her new sexy style, it definitely shows.
