Watch as a Virginia man loses his composure and weeps uncontrollably after his wife of 17 years told him she was five months pregnant. The good news came after the couple had endured a heartbreaking ordeal involving four miscarriages and a stillbirth while trying for a baby.

The video of Arkell Graves, 41, of Dinwiddie County, Virginia, breaking down after he learned from his wife that he was going to be a father has deeply touched the hearts of thousands online.

And it appears from Arkell’s reaction that after trying unsuccessfully for 17 years to have a baby, he and his wife had given up on cherished dreams of becoming parents.

They had “everything planned,” but things did not work out as they had hoped.

Dana Griffin-Graves, also 41, broke the news to her partner — that he was going to be a father — in a creative way, according to WRIC.

She literally put real buns in the oven.

BuzzFeed reports Dana said that at the time they married, she and her partner had not expected that they would have problems having a baby. But after years of frustrated efforts in which they endured the painful ordeal of four miscarriages and a still birth, they resigned themselves to living childless and lost hope of raising children.

“We had everything planned. It just didn’t work out, so we kind of gave up.”

By the time Dana got pregnant, she and her husband had stopped thinking or worrying about having a baby.

Dana joined a group of friends for long walks as a way of getting some exercise. But after a few months, she was puzzled to observe that despite regular workouts, she was gaining weight while everyone else was losing weight.

She went to see a doctor who examined her and gave an unbelievable diagnosis –- five months of pregnancy.

“I was ecstatic. We hadn’t planned anything, we weren’t trying.”

After recovering from the shock of the unexpected discovery, she came up with a creative way of breaking the sweet news to her husband.

She placed some buns in an oven alongside an ultrasound image of the baby and a card that said, “Baby’s first picture.”

Then she secretly set up a camera to record her husband’s reaction to her little prank. The video shows the moment that Dana broke the news to her unsuspecting husband.

Dana approached her husband, who was apparently trying to fix himself a meal in the kitchen after he returned home from work. When Arkell saw his wife, he told her to come over for a hug.

But Dana told her husband to look inside the oven.

He bent over to look inside the oven. The message his wife was trying to communicate through buns placed in the oven alongside an ultrasound image was obvious. Arkell deciphered it quickly. He spun on his heels to face his wife, wide-eyed in anticipation.

“You’re pregnant! You’re pregnant!”

“That’s why I couldn’t lose weight,” his wife answered.

Arkell couldn’t hide his shock at the news. His jaws hung open for several seconds as he tried to absorb it. Then his face lit up with a boyish grin.

She told him the baby was about five months old and due on February 16.

Arkell became ecstatic. He swung his arms and danced with joy. He beckoned to his wife to come closer for a hug.

At that moment, she told him, “It’s a boy.”

That was when Arkell burst into tears. He pulled his shirt over his face to hide his tears as he sobbed uncontrollably.

Dana later posted her husband’s heartwarming reaction on YouTube.

The video, uploaded to YouTube on Friday, September 25 for friends and family, went viral immediately, receiving tens of thousands of views.

“After four miscarriages and one stillborn birth, we had given up on the idea of having babies of our own, especially at our age… But God!”
