Chris Harper-Mercer’s 4Chan Post Under Fed Investigation: 4Chan Thread Warned Of School Shooting, 4Chan Members Egged Harper-Mercer On Or Tried To Stop Chris

The devastating school shooting by Chris Harper-Mercer is made even more devastating by knowing that Harper-Mercer likely warned others of his plans via 4Chan. An image in Google cache shows that an anonymous 4Chan member warned other 4Chan members that a school shooting in Oregon would occur. The fact that the 4Chan image had been viewed more than 560,000 times is also sad, seeing as how Oregon schools weren’t closed prior to the 4Chan threat.

“Anon says he’s going to shoot up a school in Oregon. OP delivers,” throwawayandsuch12 wrote on 4chan.

According to the New York Times, federal authorities are now looking into the 4Chan thread and investigating whether it was truly Chris who wrote these words. Harper-Mercer’s alleged conversation on 4Chan has been archived, meaning that even deleted 4Chan posts can now be saved online in infamy.

In the 4Chan thread, the OP (original poster) – alleged to be Harper-Mercer – starts out with a threat warning other 4Chan members not to go to school the next day if they live in the Northwest region, presumably of the U.S. That 4Chan post was dated Wednesday, September 30. The time is listed as 19:19:01, which, if military time, would translate into 7:19 p.m.

“Some of you guys are alright. Don’t go to school tomorrow if you are in the northwest. Happening thread will be posted tomorrow morning. So long space robots.”

Within minutes, 4Chan members began asking about the threat to determine if the OP (Harper-Mercer, allegedly) was serious. One asked if the beta uprising was finally happening. Teasingly, the 4Chan member told presumably Chris to calm down, chillax, and not to contact police. Another 4Chan member humorously joked that either Harper-Mercer – if he really wrote the 4Chan post – would kill the 4Chan member, or his or her parents would do the job, eventually. As if to goad the threatening 4Chan member along, the responding 4Chan member said they’d be waiting.

“It’s either you kill me or my parents do, I’ll be waiting lad.”

Other 4Chan members tried to peg down the Oregon location where the shooting that Harper-Mercer was threatening would occur. Although Chris didn’t list Oregon or community college info in his original 4Chan post (at least not in the archive version available now), somehow the 4Chan member was able to ask about Oregon community colleges.

“I live in the northwest but I’m 28 and not even in community college. Seattle or Portland OP? I will be watching the news.”

That’s when countdown posts came on 4Chan, allegedly from Harper-Mercer, along with the ensuing 4Chan posts from 4Chan members egging Chris on to “do it” or to “f*** off” and that no one cares about Harper-Mercer.

“Will post again in am, 10 min countdown. Won’t say more to much to prepare.”

“Nobody cares you’re pathetic and this is why no one likes you.”

Amazingly, the 4Chan thread offers suggestions on how the disturbed 4Chan threatening shooter could carry out the actions. While one says “be American and get shot,” there’s a “thanks fam” answer that isn’t clear whether it came from Harper-Mercer or not. Other 4Chan posters offer Chris detailed ways and ideas on how to carry out the shooting, but different 4Chan members call Harper-Mercer and coward and tell him to talk to girls instead.

“I suggest you enter a classroom and tell people that you will take them as hostages. Make everyone get in one corner and then open fire. Make sure that there is no way that someone can disarm you as it possible. I suggest you carry a knife on your belt as last resort if someone is holding your gun.”
