‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ Star Nicholas Brendon Faces Prison Following Attack

Buffy the Vampire Slayer‘s Nicholas Brendon is in trouble again and this time Brendon is in far more trouble than facing a mere drunk and disorderly charge, as has been a large part of the actor’s past troubles. This time the scene took place at a hotel in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., where the Buffy the Vampire Slayer star was said to have been involved in a domestic dispute with his girlfriend.

Saratoga Springs Police Department lieutenant Bob Gillson told E! News that Brendon’s girlfriend had stopped by the hotel room to deliver some of Nicholas’ personal belongings, but, when she attempted to leave, the Buffy the Vampire Slayer star blocked her from leaving. Agitated by an argument over his cell phone and keys, Mr. Brendon pinned the woman against the wall and tried to choke her by grabbing her neck.

It seems to be unknown what transpired next, but Brendon was picked up later, a few blocks from the hotel and went with police without resisting arrest. Reports also indicate that Nicholas’ girlfriend did not receive any injuries from the incident.

As has usually been the case in Brendon’s scrapes with the law, alcohol was reportedly involved, indicating that the Buffy the Vampire Slayer actor was intoxicated at the time of the domestic disturbance.

Following the incident, Nicholas Brendon was charged with third-degree robbery, two counts of criminal mischief, and one count of obstruction of breathing.

Brendon has lead a trouble life for several years now, following his career as Xander Harris on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, all related to his issues with alcohol and drug use. Nicholas was arrested three times earlier this year with the most recent previous arrest resulting in charges of public drunkeness in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina this past May. Following that arrest, Brendon tweeted to his fans to let him know that all was well, though it seems his troubles were not quite behind him.

“Twatters I love you all,” the Buffy the Vampire Slayer actor wrote along with a shirtless selfie. “Healing waters of Myrtle Beach. We are all human.”

Even at that time, Brendon was facing serious charges resulting from his abuse of alcohol and drugs and from bouts of severe depression, which included failing to submit urine samples to authorities in Tallahassee, Florida. The requirement was a result of having trashed a hotel room in that area’s jurisdiction.

Nicholas had revealed that all of these troubles were results of his inability to come to terms with issues that he had been trying to deal with, including having been the victim of sexual abuse, when he was a child. As Brendon’s troubles become publicly known, his Buffy the Vampire Slayer co-star, Sarah Michelle Geller, had offered to pay for rehab, if Brendon was interested in going, but it seems Nicholas hasn’t yet taken her up on that offer.

Brendon did appear on Dr. Phil with the intention of discussing his mental health and addiction issues, possibly getting help through that show, but Nicholas walked off of the set midway through his interview.

“My illnesses and addictions are a daily struggle for me, and I am committed to working on them for the rest of my life,” Brendon wrote on his Facebook page after walking out of the taping. “A big part of that is focusing on positivity. I’m the first to admit I’ve messed up, a lot, and I’ve hurt people I care about and who care about me.”

People magazine also reports that police have been called to Brendon’s home twice in recent weeks for “unspecified mental health issues,” so it seems that either someone is looking out for the Buffy the Vampire Slayer star or Nicholas Brendon himself is crying out for help.
