‘Fifty Shades Darker’ Star Jamie Dornan Cut From Bradley Cooper’s ‘Burnt,’ Called An ‘Embarrassment’

New controversy has surfaced concerning Jamie Dornan’s recent involvement in the movie, Burnt. Although Dornan was set to appear in the film alongside Bradley Cooper, it now seems as though the Fifty Shades of Grey star may have been cut from the film for a number of reasons, including his previous body of work and his overall skills as an actor.

Burnt centers on the story of a celebrated chef named Adam Jones (Cooper), who is going through a rough spot in his culinary career after a few missteps lands him in trouble with his peers. Jones, in effort to reclaim his name as a top chef, hashes a plan to open up a new restaurant and prove that he can still be successful in the restaurant business.

According to Enstarz, Dornan had a minor part in the movie, which stars Cooper and Sienna Miller. Despite the small role, many fans were waiting to see the movie because of Dornan’s cameo. However, all the scenes that featured Dornan were removed from the final cut of the film, leaving fans disappointed and wondering why producers decided to remove his scenes. After all, Dornan’s presence in the film would have attracted more viewers.

While his removal could have been for a number of different reasons, some critics stated that he just wasn’t right for the part, with one critic even saying his performance was an “embarrassment.”

At the same time, some critics linked the decision of producers to remove Dornan from the film to Dornan’s recent work in Fifty Shades of Grey and The Fall.

“Good. I’m glad there is fall out from Fifty Shades of Grey. That show modeled dangerous behavior and was degrading to women,” one critic wrote. “Aside from Fifty Shades of abuse, The Fall is worst, yet he gets positive feedback for glorifying a sociopath and serial killer of women. Where is the logic in all of this?”

While some critics blame his previous work as being the primary reason he was removed from Burnt, others thought it was simply because Dornan is not that good of an actor to be playing alongside the likes of Cooper or Miller. “This is what happens when you are a lousy actor Jamie Dornan,” wrote another critic. “He can thank his fans because without them he would be nothing.”

In contrast to these reports, the Stir is reporting that director John Wells recently revealed the real reason why Dornan’s part was cut, and it apparently had nothing to do with his poor performance or past credits.

“In the case of Burnt, Jamie’s role was a small cameo that he was kind enough to do for us and was part of Sienna Miller’s character’s backstory,” Wells stated, adding that they choose a different direction for the storyline which led to Dornan’s role being cut. “We ultimately decided to focus on Adam Jones’s redemption story.”

Whatever the truth may be, Dornan has struggled to land roles in major movie productions as of late. In fact, other than his upcoming parts in Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed, the actor is not slated to appear in any major films in the coming years. Whether or not this is due to him being typecast for women-abusing roles is yet to be determined.

On the other hand, his Fifty Shades of Grey co-star, Dakota Johnson, does not seem to be having the same problem. In fact, along with her roles in the two new Fifty Shades movies, the actress is currently enjoying her success in Black Mass, in which she starred alongside Johnny Depp.
