Drew Brees Sends Message To Saints: I Can Dance

The New Orleans Saints and interim head coach Joe Vitt are confident that Drew Brees will return to the team to play this year. But the franchise player sent a playful, and forceful, message to the Saints today, assuring them that he can dance.

Vitt said:

“He’s going to be here… I don’t think anybody thought this was going to be easy… There’s a lot of revolving pieces here that Mickey’s got to get fit in with the (salary) cap and get people signed, and so on and so forth, and it’s all going to fit into the future. This is going to get done. He’s going to be here. What else is he going to do? He can’t sing or dance.”

Brees responded to his new coach via Twitter, saying:

“On the contrary Joe Vitt, you have obviously never seen me karaoke! As for dancing, @LanceMoore (Saints WR) ain’t got nothing on me”

The Boston Herald reports that Brees skipped several weeks of voluntary workouts. He also sat out of the first six off-season practices. The Saints have until June 16th to offer Drew Brees a new contract. If they don’t, Brees can play for the team for one-year under the franchise tag for $16 million. Or, he could sit the season out.

Do you think Drew Brees was playing around with Joe Vitt? Or is there a little bit of a threat in Brees’ words?
