‘Batman V Superman’ Rating Revealed: What Does It Mean For The Film?

It’s been announced that Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice will be a PG-13 when it is finally released to the world.

Box Office Mojo confirmed that Zack Snyder’s superhero hybrid received this rating because it possesses “intense sequences of violence and action throughout, and some sensuality.”

The Motion Picture Association Of America were behind this decision, which also confirms that those who have overseen the film have completed an edit of the blockbuster that they are completely happy with. Now if the filmmakers want to make some big changes to the film they will have to go back to the ratings review board to clear them.

But, since we are quite a few weeks and quite a few months away from the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice there is every chance that some changes will be made in the future to the film.

It’s not actually that big a surprise that Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice has been given a PG-13. Not only was its predecessor, Man Of Steel, provided with the same rating, but the adventures over at Marvel that have starred the likes of Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Guardians Of The Galaxy, and The Avengers, have each been provided with this rating too.

In fact, the only films that have actually experimented with more mature ratings are in the future. Fox’s Deadpool and Warner Bros.’ Suicide Squad, which will hit cinemas in February and August of 2016, respectively, are each aiming for an R rating as they look to differentiate themselves from more mainstream comic-book adaptations.

But what can we learn from the Motion Picture Association’s decision to rate Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice in this manner? Well, actions fans will be ecstatic to hear that the film is peppered with action scenes throughout its running time.

As the title suggests, the action is likely to mostly include Henry Cavill’s Superman and Ben Affleck’s Batman as they jostle for superiority. Meanwhile, there’s also likely to be scenes that include Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor as his villainy grows in the film, while Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman/Diana Prince, who has already been in the trailers in her costume, is likely to be involved in the thick of the action too.

The other interesting bit of information to have emerged from the MPAA’s announcement is that Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice will include scenes of “sensuality.” But who will these be between?

Well, as it was shown in Man Of Steel, Henry Cavill’s Superman and Amy Adams’ Lois Lane have already struck up quite the romance. They locked lips during the film, while the romantic history between the pair, which has been a firm part of previous Superman adventures in the comics, and on television and films, alike, means that fans are always going to be interested in seeing the pair together.

But what about the introduction of Wonder Woman? Recent comic book adventures have actually seen Diana Prince and Superman grow closer, and there were previously rumors that she might become romantically entangled with Clark Kent’s alter-ego in this film too.

However, the trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice that premiered at Comic Con suggested that she is actually going to be in cahoots with Bruce Wayne and Batman. Will that have a romantic edge? We’ll just have to wait and see.

Meanwhile, as the Inquisitr reported earlier this week, the latest trailers for Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice are reportedly set to air during the premiere of Supergirl and Gotham. Supergirl’s trailer will focus primarily on Superman while Gotham’s will revolve around Batman.

Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice will be released on March 25, 2016.
