WWE News: WWE Discussed Adding WWE NXT Stars And Segments To Matches On ‘WWE RAW’ Each Week?

WWE NXT has become one of the hottest things in all of pro wrestling. Some of the top Indy performers from around the world have come over just to compete in a match. Prince Devitt and KENTA are now part of the roster, as well as El Generico and Kevin Steen, all under new names. Some have totally different gimmicks, whereas others are exactly the same. People like Samoa Joe and Jushin “Thunder” Liger also came over, which only helped to put more eyes on the NXT product.

WWE realized that NXT had a lot of great things, but at one point, the company thought there was a need for them to help promote it more. According to the Wrestling Observer, there were discussions in 2014 about adding NXT matches and segments to WWE RAW each week. Some even speculated that WWE SmackDown might house some. The idea was obviously shot down, but not in total.

We saw some NXT matches added or some random NXT Superstars come up in 2014 and 2015. Usually, the matches with only NXT stars were done to promote a major NXT show, like the time that Neville, Tyler Breeze, Sami Zayn, and Tyson Kidd did a tag team match on WWE RAW to help promote their NXT show with all four fighting for Neville’s NXT Championship that very Wednesday on the WWE Network.

This is the only time WWE has allowed the NXT stars to really do anything barring the times that they came up to the main roster as they usually would.

Most feel that whoever stopped the idea of it was most likely only doing to because of the fact that there was a power struggle going on then, which is still a big deal today. Triple H runs NXT and the entire developmental operation and is also the head of all Talent Relations, which means he signs and fires people. While others help to scout talent across the world, such as William Regal, Triple H makes the final call on whether or not to sign a certain man or woman.

It is said that Triple H and Stephanie McMahon will control the empire the moment Vince McMahon decides to step down. The two have been getting more power and were added to the WWE’s Board of Directors not too long ago. While Vince is CEO of WWE and chairman of the board, these titles will eventually go to others. It is said that neither Triple H nor Stephanie are fans of Kevin Dunn, who many fans know for his terrible ideas and political tyranny within the company.

He is the right-hand man of Vince McMahon and in his ear more than most, even Stephanie. This has started to change some as Triple H and Stephanie have gained power. The issue is that Kevin Dunn still has a lot of power within the company and knows he will be replaced when Vince decides to call it a career. This has caused a lot of issues backstage, as Dunn has tried to stop things the two have attempted to get off the ground.

It is not a shock that the NXT idea was shot down. However, due to the fact that Triple H has helped to make NXT a major deal, Vince has begun to listen to his daughter and son-in-law far more. It is thought that once the two take over, WWE will change a great deal and be more like an NXT show. Fans could not be happier if this were to occur.

While the television rating may never change, due to the WWE making more money than ever under the PG banner, the way a show is written, produced, and laid out will surely change with new people in charge. The success of NXT has only proven the ability of Stephanie McMahon and Triple H specifically as future leaders.
