Rihanna Makes Musical Comeback At Rock In Rio – So Where’s ‘R8’?

Rihanna made another musical comeback at Rock In Rio over the weekend. She last performed at the iHeartRadio Music Festival this past summer. Fans have been waiting for some new music from the pop star, and while they didn’t get it, they were still satisfied with her electrifying performance.

Bad gal RiRi hasn’t released an album since 2012. Fans have been wondering when her highly anticipated R8 is going to drop, as she’s been focused on her fashion and beauty ventures. Rihanna just released her latest fragrance over the summer. But the “BBHMM” singer made a shocking appearance at the Rock In Rio Festival on Saturday, September 26, where she reminded fans that she’s still got it.

The 27-year-old singer made a flowy appearance in oversized orange silk pajamas and a black camisole. Rihanna also wore diamond necklaces, sunglasses, and white tennis sneakers. Her dark hair was styled in loose waves as she completed her tough gal look with dark lipstick.

The sexy singer’s 12-minute headline set brought Brazilian fans to their knees. Rihanna opened up with the unreleased R8 track “Rock Star 101,” which last played at the Dior show earlier this year. RiRi went on to perform some of her hit songs like “Talk That Talk,” and “Umbrella.” She also performed a medley of her collaborations with Drake, Eminem, Jay Z, Kanye West, and T.I.

Rihanna didn’t go without performing her latest catchy single “BBHMM,” which created controversy for her violent and gruesome video.

As stated before, Rihanna has been focused on her new fashion and beauty ventures rather than her music career. The singer’s Puma by Rihanna Collection and Fenty Collection both made their debut in stores last week. The singer appears to be doing with her new fashion venture since both collections sold out.

The light pink furry sandals that RiRi rocks on her latest cover The Fader also sold out. The cover features the “Diamonds” singer in a light pink satin gown layered underneath a light pink sweater with tiny cut-outs and an “R” on the top left shoulder. Rihanna made the super feminine look all hers with gold jewelry and her blown out hair. But it was Rihanna’s furry pink slippers that caught everyone’s attention. According to The Fader, the slippers are by Fenty Puma by Rihanna.

She’s been seen wearing the sandals in both black and pink over the past few weeks, as fans continue to wonder if she’s still working on her eighth studio album.

The songstress has been seen sauntering in and out of the recording studio ever since 2014. Those sightings caused fans to take to social media outlets like Instagram and Twitter to talk about the elusive album, using the #R8 hashtag. November 2014 was the last time that Rihanna mentioned her mysterious album, tweeting that “ANY news about #R8 will be delivered directly from me!!!!”

Four months later, she told MTV that she wanted to make classic songs instead of club hits. RiRi has released three new singles, “FourFiveSeconds,” “American Oxygen,” and “B***h Betta Have My Money,” but she has yet to make an announcement about the album’s full track list or release date, making some of her fans irate.

Earlier this month, Rihanna told NME that the status of her new album is still in limbo. But she insists that she has “something great” in store for her fans soon. The “Talk That Talk” singer also said that she’s been hard at work at her album. In fact, she’s recorded so many songs that she doesn’t know which ones to include on the so-called R8 album.

“It’s not done! To me it’s never done until it’s done. Until the final moment. I have so many songs that I love, and they’re so different, that it’s hard to actually put them all on the same album.”

According to the folks at The Fader, it appears that Rihanna is too busy enjoying life to release new music. These days, she’s seen smoking marijuana, going on exotic vacations with her girl friends, and grinding on controversial men in various nightclubs. Even writer Mary H.K. Choi noted, “you can’t help but wonder if she’s sometimes felt just plainly over music.”

It looks like Rihanna’s interview with NME was her last since she refused to be questioned by the magazine. The singer’s cover story with The Fader showed that she doesn’t have a story to tell. Well, not when it comes to her music, anyway.
