‘Spider-Gwen’ Trailer With Emma Stone Is Fake But It Feels So Real
Could Spider-Gwen be swinging into a theater near you?
That is exactly what you might think by watching this impressive mash-up trailer.
Superhero Hype reports that the now-viral Spider-Gwen fake movie trailer was developed and released by Vulture.
The majority of the footage used in the viral mash-up trailer was taken directly from The Amazing Spider-Man two-movie franchise, which featured the Gangster Squad actress as Peter Parker’s love interest, Gwen Stacy.

However, the beauty and brilliance of this mash-up trailer primarily came from well-cut footage from quite a few of Emma Stone’s other movies: Easy A and Birdman. In the 2010 Will Gluck directed film, Easy A, Emma Stone starred as Olive Penderghast — a teenager who developed a reputation of sorts at her high school because of a lie.
The fact that her character recorded quite a few lengthy monologues via vlogs throughout the movie apparently made it somewhat easy to flip her words around into the origin story of a fake superhero.
“The rumors of my [death] have been greatly exaggerated. There are two sides to every story and this is my side. The right one. I used to be anonymous. Who am I? What does it all mean? Why am I here? This isn’t one of those tales…”
There were a few clips throughout the Spider-Gwen trailer that needed a little alteration, such as when clips of Spider-Man were turned into clips of the female heroine. The majority of the other clips used in the mash-up, though, were just creative edits and re-cuts of existing footage.
For instance, Peter Parker left Gwen Stacy dangling from a web in one of the films from The Amazing Spider-Man franchise. However, if you cut Spider-Man out of the clip, then you are left with what appears to be Gwen Stacy hanging from her own web.
Using footage from the first film of the Marc Webb directed franchise, Vulture was apparently able to create a conflict of sorts between Gwen Stacy and her father, Captain Stacy, by using a clip of Emma Stone from the Oscar-winning film, Birdman.
“Things are happening in a place that you ignore.”
This might be a fake movie trailer, but quite a few people on Twitter are apparently excited about the mere concept alone.

Keeping in mind how things ended for Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, some people might frown at the idea of her coming back as Spider-Gwen.
However, Marvel did the same thing with Jennifer Garner’s Elektra in the 2005 Rob Bowman directed spin-off film.
Would Emma Stone even accept a big-screen role as Spider-Gwen if Marvel decided to give the film a green light?
In an interview with MTV, the Superbad actress stated that “a lot of pieces would have to come together” to turn the concept into a feature film. However, according to ComicBook.com, Stone claimed that she would have interest in reprising her role as Gwen Stacy while speaking at a press event for the Cameron Crowe directed film, Aloha.
