Tom Brady Kiss: Patriots Quarterback’s Pregame Pucker A First, But Awkward

Tom Brady is catching a lot of heat for a kiss seen from around the world. On Sunday’s match between the New England Patriots and the Jacksonville Jaguars, Brady received a pregame good luck kiss, not from his wife, Gisele Bundchen, but from — wait for it — Bob Kraft, the Patriots’ owner.

A picture uploaded to social media sites of Tom Brady getting kissed by Kraft went viral, for obvious reasons. People had a field day with the snap, citing a CBS Sports report. Comments about the smooch ranged from “creepy” to “precious.” Granted, it’s not something you often see in the National Football League between an owner and player.

However, Tom Brady is not just any “player.” He’s in rare air among privileged athletes and has the total backing from the man who signs his paycheck. Bob Kraft is like a father to Tom, the son, who happens to be genetically-gifted with sex appeal usually only seen among male models. He’s also a premiere quarterback in the league, a future Hall of Famer and a player whose boss will stick his neck out for him at any cost.

At no time was that seen more than with the so-called Patriots Deflate-gate, where Brady was accused of orchestrating the release of air in balls during the AFC Championship win over the Indianapolis Colts. Kraft stood by Tom Brady from the beginning and maintains his loyalty to him after a court overturned the NFL four-day imposed suspension. A kiss was the least he could offer for a player who has redefined the franchise and made it the most formidable ball club in any sport.

That said, perhaps, Tom Brady’s kiss from Bob Kraft made the difference in Sunday’s game. New England torched the Jags 51-17 in a lopsided victory, which gave the Patriots a 3-0 start for the year.

That kiss may have been the reason Brady reached another milestone in his career. Tom became the fourth NFL quarterback ever to throw 400 touchdown passes, according to an ESPN report. He targeted and connected two receivers to bring his total to 401. Only Drew Brees, Brett Farve and Peyton Manning have more TDs on record. Brady completed the stellar performance at Gillette Stadium by completing 33 of 42 passes for 358 yards.

Kiss or not, it appeared as though Tom Brady had a good time, and is getting better with time.

“I don’t care whether we throw it in or run it in. As long as we’re scoring points and winning, it’s fun for me.”
