Curtain Falls On Carly Fiorina’s Parade: What Caused Mishap At Campaign Speech?

Carly Fiorina is rapidly learning that what can go wrong will go wrong — even at the most inopportune times.

First, the GOP hopeful for the 2016 elections was allegedly pelted with condoms over the weekend at a campaign stop in Iowa. Next, a curtain fell while Carly Fiorina addressed a group of women entrepreneurs in Texas on Sunday night, this according to an ABC News report Hewlett-Packard chief executive officer.

According to a CBS report, Republican presidential candidate Fiorina was in the middle of her speech when it was interrupted by the crescendo of something just behind the podium. She and two other women on stage managed to shield their heads from debris as a large metal rod and span of blue curtains fell to the floor. Thankfully, the drapes came to rest away from the stage and there were no reported injuries. A video captured the frightening moment. Not surprisingly, the footage went viral on social media.

People in the audience gasped as they watched the accident unfold. Moments later, someone from the gathering broke the tension of the moment and yelled, “Trump!” Fiorina responded in kind by showing off her sense of humor.”Trump, Hillary — it could’ve been lots of people,” she said.

After a brief spell, the former HP CEO snapped back into character, continued her remarks before the crowd and even took questions from those in attendance. Fiorina’s press secretary released a statement over the falling curtain incident.

“We were in San Antonio at the NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners) conference, the drapes and poles in the hotel ballroom began to fall, and Carly wasn’t injured.”

On Saturday’s condom-throwing incident in the Hawkeye State, Carly Fiorina met the wrath of a group of Planned Parenthood supporters who clashed with her during a tailgate party, according to a previous Inquisitr report. Allegedly, someone from the crowd tossed the plastic wrappers at Fiorina and her supporters as they met with potential voters. The group’s chants of “Carly Fiorina offsides for telling lies” drowned out the candidate’s meet and greet chatter, and forced her to a secure area outside Kinnick Stadium.

According to the latest Polling Report, if the election were held on September 24 for the White House 2016 Republican nomination, Trump would lead all candidates (21 percent). Dr. Ben Carson is a close second with 20 percent. Marco Rubio and Carly Fiorina are tied at 11 percent for third place.
