Scandal is back and fans are ecstatic about all that season 5 has to offer. Of course, there’s no doubt that Shonda Rhimes will deliver enough drama to leave Scandal fans on the edge of their seats. But, apparently, there’s more drama occurring behind the scenes than what you see when the cameras are rolling and Olivia Pope can’t fix it all.
By now, everyone knows former Scandal star Columbus Short became the center of controversy when his marital problems were thrust into the spotlight last year. However, that’s definitely not all.
According to Radar Online, there are a number of “B6-13” cast secrets that have been sealed and classified, but now several details about their ongoing behind-the-scenes feuds have been revealed. It has been reported that some of your favorite Scandal stars’ passionate chemistry on camera is more like vinegar and water mixture behind the scenes.
One feud you probably wouldn’t expect is the alleged ongoing quarrel between Scandal’s star Kerry Washington and Nick Foley, who portrays Captain Jake Ballard, Olivia Pope’s on-again, off again love interest. Apparently the two have been at odds for quite some time. In fact, there have been times where their disagreements have been so bad that Washington has reportedly asked Rhimes to “to kill Foley’s character off the show.”
As previously reported on Inquisitr, an inside source shared details about their ongoing feud, revealing Foley wouldn’t be surprised if his character was killed off.
“Kerry is a very take-charge gal,” a source said. “But Scott is a veteran actor with his own opinions, and many of them rubbed Kerry the wrong way. Scott knows that Kerry is tight with Shonda, so he sees the writing on the wall. He wouldn’t be surprised if he got killed off early this fall.”
For those who missed the last season of Scandal, Foley’s character was stabbed repeatedly after being ambushed by Olivia’s new love interest, hired by her father. Although the scene didn’t exactly confirm if Jake Ballard actually died from the stabbing, fans still took to social media with their response to the shocking twist in the storyline, reports Daily Mail.
In addition to the drama behind the scenes, Rhimes has also had her fair share of issues with the media. Although Scandal, along with Rhimes other two successfull primetime hits Grey’s Anatomy and How To Get Away With Murder have been highly successful, film and television critics have often criticized Rhimes for her depiction of “angry” African-American women. However, the criticism hasn’t stopped Rhimes from dominating primetime television. So, regardless of the drama behind the scenes, fans will be ready on Thursday when the cameras roll.
