Mariah Carey Causes Anne Hathaway To Freak Out — Yes, Celebs Get Star Struck, Too

Mariah Carey is certainly an A-lister in the celeb world, and has come by her diva status quite honestly due to being so remarkably talented and finding success in the music industry over the past 3 decades. It’s no wonder fans get a little bit overly-excited when Carey takes the stage or makes an appearance. However, often it’s a forgotten fact that celebrities are fanatics, as well.

Anne Hathaway recently reminded us of this very subject matter when she paused during an interview with the Associated Press — which was about the latest film she stars in, The Intern –– to have a controlled “freak out” when she realized that Carey was in her vicinity. The Daily Mail expands in regards to the scenario that brought on Hathaway’s loss of focus.

“The 31-year-old Oscar-winning actress was interviewed at the event, held at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York, gushing over the superstar singer’s presence and also revealing herself to be too shy to go up and talk to her.”

Us Weekly shared the star’s words in response to Carey’s sudden presence behind her.

“I’m freaking out. Like, she’s two arm’s lengths away right now… It’s just the best glamorous ever. That’s not even a sentence, ‘it’s just the best glamorous ever.’ I went to college. I didn’t graduate!”

The college which Hathaway is referring to is Vassar College. The star attended but did not continue to graduation, and is obviously poking fun at her own inability to articulate her excitement stirred up by Carey’s proximity to her. So, as the publication notes, celebrities have fanatic moments just like the rest of us. Even a star as successful as Anne Hathaway, who has recently worked side-by-side with the great Robert De Niro in The Intern, is converted into a beautiful and adorable mess in the presence of her idol, Mariah.

Hathaway then brushes off the interviewer’s attempts to coax her over to converse with Carey.

“No, no, no, it’s fine, it’s fine. I’m gonna meet her when the time is right.”

As Us Weekly reminds, Jennifer Lawrence was faced with a similar circumstance when Jack Nicholson stepped in to congratulate her for her excellent performance in Silver Linings Playbook while the actress was being interviewed. JLaw nearly fell over after the iconic star congratulated her. It just goes to show that celebrities get jitters and starstruck, and it leads to wonder as to who makes Carey nervous.
