After hitting up MTV’s Sneak Peek event at Universal Citywalk yesterday, Kristen Stewart and co-star Sam Clafin stepped out at the LA premiere of Snow White and The Huntsman.
The fantasy epic promises a darker take on the Disney story, reworking Snow White as a warrior princess who saves a ravaged kingdom from an evil Queen (played Charlize Theron), after being trained by a huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) instructed to kill her.
Wearing a black tuxedo jacket, flick skirt, high collar white shirt and stacked black platforms, Stewart worked her Stella McCartney monochrome ensemble with style at the premiere, while posing for pictures with Clafin (who plays Prince William) and director Rupert Sanders – in what is his debut feature.
Actor Ray Winstone – who plays ‘Gort, one of the eight (yup, eight) – dwarves in the film), recently described Stewart as “Tremendous […]she’s a ballsy woman! I shouldn’t think of her any other way, she’s a professional actress and a f*cking good one at that!”
In a recent interview, Stewart described this 2012 Snow White’s backstory: “She’s put in jail at the beginning of her life, so she’s a stunted person. She has a really idealized concept of what the world is, and how people should live, and how wonderful things all can be, and there is this debilitating isolation that she feels because she has been locked away in a little cell for seven years ” – as one she could empathize with.
Stewart said: “I can kind of relate to that. There is something… It’s not the reason that I wanted to do the movie, but the fans and people who loved Twilight, they do put you on this sort of different plane where you’re not real.”
What is real though, is the certainty that Stewart’s massive fanbase who have been eagerly anticipating its release will come out in support of the movie.
