Many artists in the art community find plenty of inspiration among interests that bring a sense of nostalgia. For Andrew Tarusov, he found inspiration in vintage pin-up models and Disney Princesses. As a result, he created a set of digital drawings of Disney Princesses in provocative vintage pin-up style, some actually exposing their assets.
For millennials, the sense of nostalgia is often felt when partaking in television shows, music, movies, video games, and the like made in the 90s. For Leland Foster, his inspiration is to merge how millennials are today with The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. As a result, Foster has digitally drawn the cast if they were living in the millennial generation.
According to Huffington Post, Leland Foster expressed his vision of the cast of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air as Millennials by incorporating the fashion and technology of the generation. So far, Foster has only re-imagined Will Smith (Will Smith), Carlton Banks (Alfonso Ribeiro), Philip Banks (James Avery), Hilary Banks (Karyn Parsons), Ashley Banks (Tatyana M. Ali), and Geoffrey Butler (Joseph Marcell). Which are shown in the gallery below.
‘Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air’ Gets A Millennial Makeover – How Would Will, Carlton, Uncle Phil, And Others Look Like Today?
The Millennial version of Will Smith still shows that Will dresses in his own style that fits his eccentric personality. However, with an emphasis on cultures this time around, his clothing shows a lot of African-inspired art. He still loves music but instead of sporting a Walkman, he now has an iPod.
The Millennial Ashley Banks is still a woman who fights for a good cause. Ergo, she sports a style of her own that goes against the status quo. She has her iPhone within her hands.
Geoffrey Banks is still wearing the clothing of a butler but has a more modern attire. However, he still zones out outside interference with his noise cancellation headphones. The British flag shows his love for his home country though.
Carlton Banks is not just a Millennial in his attire, but a hipster as shown by his use of bowties and swatches. Having him wear Google Glass definitely adds to his “annoying” aura, something prominent in the show.
Just like in the show, Hilary Banks is pushing the boundaries of fashion. With her clothing having a yellow trim like police tape, a necklace with a missing third pearl, and a hairstyle that is more than unique, Hilary is still pushing fashion boundaries.
Philip Banks was known as the voice of reason and the authority figure. It is often said he is also a Republican in the show. Ergo, not much differs for Philip in the show to his Millennial version. Only major changes is his clothes being updated as well as a tablet being used for reading news.
