Mack Charles Andrews: Pastor Accused Of Raping 9-Year-Old On Her Dad’s Grave Faces Trial In November

Mack Charles Andrews, Jr., the former pastor of an ultra-conservative Pentecostal church, will face trial in November on charges that he violated the trust of his congregation’s most vulnerable members — in the most heinous and horrifying ways.

Andrews was arrested two years ago and accused of a series of sex crimes against children, and earlier this week, one of his victims spoke out, giving sickening details of his sexual assault on her — an attack that took place on her own father’s grave.

The now-55-year-old Andrews was arrested on October 3, 2013, and charged with multiple counts of rape, sexual abuse, attempted rape, sodomy, and sexual torture — all crimes he is alleged to have committed against girls as young as seven.

Prosecutors say that Andrews, who has been jailed since his arrest on $500,000 bond, had at least nine victims.

“I don’t have any indication there are others, but it is possible,” said District Attorney Spencer Walker.

Andrews was pastor at the United Pentecostal Church in Thomasville, Alabama — a church that has since changed its name and severed all ties with Andrews. The ultra-conservative church prohibited women from wearing makeup, jewelry or even pants, mandating floor-length skirts for women and girls.

But according to one of his accusers, identified as “Jane” by the AL.com news site, the conservative attire did not stop Andrews from reaching under those long skirts.

Court records revealed by AL.com say that Andrews penetrated Jane with various objects starting in September of 1988 when she was just seven-years-old. The objects included a letter opener, pens, a “figurine” of some kind, and a flashlight.

According to Jane, those sexual tortures were designed to “groom” her for the rape she says Andrews committed against her when she was nine-years-old.

“A 7-year-old girl isn’t ready to take a full grown man,” she told the Alabama news site.

When Andrews finally raped her, he committed the assault, she says, on the grave of her deceased father.

Jane says that the regular sexual abuse by Andrews continued until she was 12-years-old, when she left the United Pentecostal Church, which had between 40 and 50 regular congregants.

According to other warrants reported by the AL.com site, Andrews has also been charged with the rape of a 13-year-old girl in 1990, and the attempted rape of another girl the same age in the same year. He also sexually abused a 16-year-old in 1994, according to the reports.

“Jane” described the church as “like a cult” in which Mack Charles Andrews, Jr. “was the leader, and we were the sacrifices.”
