WWE News: Dudley Boyz Talk WWE Return, Praise The New Day

Last month, after ten long years, a legendary WWE and ECW tag-team, the Dudley Boyz returned to WWE and immediately targeted the new WWE Tag-Team Champions, The New Day.

The Dudley’s return was kept as a secret until the moment their music hit, which is hard to pull off in this day and age. It was one of the biggest surprises of the year, and it was one of the best, if not the best, crowd reactions of 2015.

Michael Cole sat down with both Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley for an interview on WWE’s website, and the first question he asked the team was, “What have you guys been up to in the past 10 years?” D-Von answered by naming all of the Japanese promotions that they have worked for, but he made sure to not mention TNA, where the Dudley Boyz — as Team 3D — spent most of their time after their WWE departure.

“We’ve been waiting for this for a long time, to be able to come back home to the WWE. And to know that the WWE universe, the WWE fans never forgot us, is truly heart-warming.”

“In the last 10 years we’ve been to New Japan, All Japan… The great organizations in Japan, and just being very active all over the world. You know, we never stopped working, we just continued to go nonstop.”

Upon their return, the Dudley Boyz were thrown right into the WWE Tag-Team Championship scene, and they’ll be taking on one of the most entertaining acts in WWE today, The New Day, on October 3 at Madison Square Garden. If the Dudleys win, they’ll become the WWE Tag-Team Champions for the tenth time.

Bubba Ray and D-Von both agreed that The New Day is the most entertaining tag-team in WWE today, and that the trio is responsible for their return to WWE, as they’ve resurrected tag-team wrestling in the company.

“[During our 10 years away] we always watched the [WWE] product. We wanted to keep a feel for what’s going on in WWE, and we saw that the tag-teams were starting to gain some steam again, especially a team like The New Day. So, that’s when we said to ourselves, ‘Okay, the time is right, we’ve been gone for 10 years, and if we could throw ourselves into the mix now, we could help the WWE tag-team division.'”

Due to the success of the Dudley Boyz’ return, WWE has began looking at bringing back other legendary tag-teams, such as the Hardy Boyz, who are currently under contract to TNA. However, their deals will be up at the end of the year, and both Jeff and Matt Hardy have said that they would be interested in a WWE return if they could get the right deal.
