‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 7 Spoilers: Bonnie’s New Love Interest Teased

There are changes in store for The Vampire Diaries season 7 and not just because Nina Dobrev’s Elena isn’t part of it. Lily’s family of heretics is taking over Mystic Falls, and there’s going to be a lot of bloodshed.

As the TVD season 7 promo above shows, not only are the heretics taking control of Mystic Falls, they’re also taking over Stefan and Damon’s home. Stefan’s going to be making a bomb, the heretics are bringing pain to Caroline, and there are, of course, going to be plenty of dead bodies.

In a new video interview posted by the CW, clips show Caroline thinking Lily is “insane” for believing she can control five heretics and disbelieving that Mystic Falls can survive a war between the two sides.

“The heretics have come in, causing chaos, to Mystic Falls,” Candice King previews. “Caroline does not like these heretics. She does not trust these heretics. Caroline is definitely the welcome wagon. She’s ready to win them over with her wit and her charm, while also blowing them up.” It’s a fun introduction of bringing the two worlds together – Mystic Falls characters and the new bunch.

The seventh season of The Vampire Diaries is going to be playing with time a bit, and Kat Graham has revealed to TVLine that a glimpse into the future in the fifth episode reveals her character’s new love interest.

“It really surprised me who they ended up putting Bonnie with, but I was super stoked. It’s someone that everyone knows and loves, so it’s super fun.”

Until then, all fans can do is try to guess who Bonnie’s new love interest is, but Graham has ruled out Zach Roerig’s Matt Donovan. The actress doesn’t think that who Bonnie is in season 7 “would even be good for him,” teasing, “she gets involved in some crazy stuff, and even some dark stuff,” and she “does something to him early on in the season that’s a little creepy and could go terribly awry.”

Losing Elena has changed Bonnie, with Graham saying that her character is “not very sympathetic to a lot anymore” because of it.

But while Nina Dobrev may not be part of TVD for its seventh season, that doesn’t mean the actress has forgotten about the CW series. According to Entertainment Weekly, she has said that she’s going to be watching season 7 even though she isn’t going to be in it. “That chapter is closed, sadly – bittersweet,” Dobrev shared.

The Vampire Diaries season 7 premieres Thursday, October 8 at 8 p.m. on the CW.
