‘John Wick 2’ Prepares To Start Production This Fall With Star Keanu Reeves

John Wick 2 is headed to theaters soon. Entertainment Weekly reported on Wednesday that the assassin flick would head into production this fall. The first film, which starred Keanu Reeves as an assassin that comes out of retirement looking for revenge, surprised everyone last year. John Wick was produced on a $20 million budget, but it made nearly four times that amount with a $78 million take at the box office.

Keanu Reeves is returning for the sequel, and the behind the scenes crew from the first film is also coming back with a new story to share. David Leitch and Chad Stahelski will co-direct the sequel, and screenwriter Derek Kolstad will pen the script.

No details about the plot have been released, but the sequel has been in the works since May. Jason Constantine, president of acquisitions and co-productions at Lionsgate, spoke about the sequel. According to The Wrap, he said, “With such tremendous fan and critical support for John Wick, we knew that there was still so much more of this story to tell. We are thrilled that Keanu, David, and Chad have re-teamed with us and promise to bring audiences even more excitement the second time around.”

According to KPopStarz, Chad Stahelski also expressed his excitement about bringing John Wick 2 to the big screen.

“We have ideas for days and without blinking twice we know we can outdo the action from the original. It’s the matter of story and how much you like the character. That’s always the most important. If there’s great action but you have a character that no one likes and doesn’t have charisma you’re not going to watch it. Look at any great action star, whether it’s Harrison Ford or Liam Neeson or Robert Downey Jr., pick a name, you love the guy first. Good action, bad action, you just love them in action.”

Fans of the film will be able to play John Wick on their gaming systems, as well. Lionsgate revealed their plans to partner with Starbreeze for a first person shooter based on the first film. Movie News Guide revealed that:

“The game will be Virtual Reality, and will work with ‘most existing VR headsets, including the HTC Vive.’ Though details are rare, we know that it is going to be a standalone first-person shooter set in ‘the infamous Continental Hotel.’ The Hotel was last seen in the 2014 movie. It served as a mysterious establishment catering to assassins and criminals, with its own ineffable rules and currency system.”

Keanu Reeves has kept busy in the acting department. The actor’s next film is set for release on October 9. Reeves stars in Eli Roth’s Knock Knock as a man who should not have answered the door to two young girls. Once he opens the door, his trouble begins. He ends up having a wild night with the two girls, but his cheating will land him in big trouble.

Hollywood Outbreak teased the plot of the film by saying, “Whether he’s being tied to a bed or about to be thrown into a makeshift grave in his backyard, Evan is definitely in over his head. Will our hapless protagonist survive from this ordeal and can he outwit these young ladies and beat them at their own game?”

John Wick 2 is not Reeves’ only upcoming project. Deadline reported last week that Reeves was in talks to star in Rally Car. The film feature Reeves as an American race car driver in China. Fundamental Films is behind the film, and Jerry Bruckheimer will produce. A director has not been named yet.

Acting is not Keanu Reeves’ only passion. He also loves motorcycles. He has been an avid biker since the age of 22, and he finally used his love of motorcycles to build his own dream bike. Earlier this month, RTV6 reported about Reeves’ dream creation. He spoke about the work behind it in a recent interview.

“I went to L.A. County Choprods, looking to customize a Harley Davidson Dyna. There I met Gard Hollinger… I love English Twins (bikes) and American Big Twins, and I was trying to build a motorcycle that took my affection for those, coupled with a tank influenced by a Norton Gard, with his ergonomic design, created something that was wonderful. That bike became the prototype of the Arch motorcycle. It’s both retro and futuristic, but the ride is classic-influenced.”

Reeves turned 51 earlier this month, but he still has the skills to bring in moviegoers. The elusive movie star is usually seen around Hollywood on his bike, but earlier this week Daily Mail caught Reeves smooching a mystery woman. The news outlet described the moment.

“Keanu Reeves was seen kissing a mystery brunette as the two shared a tender moment in Hollywood on Monday. Looking slightly dishevelled for the outing, Keanu left his beard long and unkempt, while his coat and jeans were covered in stains. But his untidy appearance didn’t matter to his female friend, who happily embraced the Canadian actor after spending a romantic evening together.”

Keanu Reeves was seen again by Daily Mail on Wednesday. He was jetting out of Los Angeles in their latest photos.
