‘American Horror Story’ Brings A Lady Gaga Intro Filled With ‘Lots Of Blood And Nudity’

American Horror Story: Hotel is bringing the horror back in a big way and series showrunner Ryan Murphy credits Lady Gaga for her dedication to the macabre and grotesque. According to an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Murphy admires Lady Gaga for her willingness to bring the series to a new level of horror.

“Her introduction is a six-minute [scene] — almost like a silent movie with no dialogue, and lots of blood and nudity,” Murphy said. “We started shooting on one of our first days, and you always want to throw people in with sort of an easy scene and she said, ‘No, let’s go for it.’ So, it’s pretty phenomenal and I think she’ll surprise — in a great way — a lot of people.”

As it turns out, the pop star has a real talent for acting and has impressed her co-stars as well as the American Horror Story creative team.

“I have to say, she’s one of the great professional joys in my life,” the series creator said. “She has been such a team player, the cast and crew is obsessed with her. Her performance is amazing. She’s a great actress.”

Finn Wittrock also had only good things to say about American Horror Story: Hotel and Lady Gaga, if a show becoming more horrific and terrifying are good things. Wittrock seemed to think so, as he described the differences between season four and the upcoming fifth season.

“It’s going to be really insane. In some ways, it’s returning to the classic horror genre like the first season. Freak Show was more outside and sprawling, this is more tight and scary. The sex and the blood are really amped up too and outdoing themselves,” Wittrock told People magazine.

The sexuality in American Horror Story: Hotel is all over the board, delving into some of the darker practices with Lady Gaga’s character and, as Wittrock reveals, there are also scenes to appeal to those with LGBT preferences.

“There’s a little homoerotica. My character’s not gay, but he does what he’s got to do to get by. That entails a few things. There’s also a few intimate moments with The Lady herself which has been a lot of fun.”

Going back to what Ryan Murphy said about Lady Gaga, Finn also seems to be very impressed and surprised by the singer’s dedication to her role and her experience as an actress. As the American Horror Story actor tells it, he’s not the only one to come away feeling awed by Gaga’s professionalism.

“She’s the real deal. Everyone’s like, ‘God, she’s so approachable, like I can just go up to her and talk.’ She’s taking it very seriously as an actor. I think people are going to be very impressed.”

Everyone will get a chance to judge Lady Gaga for themselves, when American Horror Story: Hotel premieres on Wednesday, October 7 on FX.
