Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly Talks About Pope Francis, Equality, And Hypocrisy During Latest Show

On Wednesday evening, Bill O’Reilly gave what he called one of the most important Talking Points Memo speeches in his 19-year career on Fox News. A Fox News video shows O’Reilly begin his show by talking about Pope Francis’ visit to the White House.

“Today, Pope Francis spoke at the White House, showing a dignity and purpose that should be admired by all.”

Mr. O’Reilly then went on to quote Pope Francis talking about building a society that is truly tolerant and inclusive, rejecting every form of unjust discrimination. The Pope also went on to talk about the efforts of building a society that respects the rights of religious liberty. Bill thought that this was a passive-aggressive criticism of how we treat people like Kim Davis, who refused to give out marriage licenses to homosexuals.

Mr. O’Reilly soon quoted the Pope talking about helping the poor and downtrodden. However, he thinks the way we have been going about this is misguided.

“Let’s take Obamacare for example. It certainly helps poor people who cannot afford health insurance. There is no doubt the intention of the entitlement program is noble. But by forcing subsidized health insurance payments on businesses, President Obama has made it more difficult to create full-time jobs in this country.”

O’Reilly added that even though some poor people may be helped, other Americans are hurt in the process. However, Bill saved his most emotional speech when analyzing President Obama’s comments on all human beings living in dignity.

“So Mr. President, are aborted fetuses able to live in dignity? They are not able to live at all, are they? The Pope may not know this, but last Friday 177 Democrats voted against a House bill that would require doctors to keep babies born alive during an abortion process from dying.”

Bill O’Reilly seemed like he was about to break down in tears during this part. He then talked about Obama commenting on the Pope’s call for nations to resist war and resolve conflicts through diplomacy. O’Reilly said that it all sounded good, but when diplomacy fails, we must protect the helpless, even if that means going to war.

As usual (with anything O’Reilly says), the comments have been mixed, especially on Twitter. But O’Reilly always says what he believes, even if what he says may not be fully based on facts.
