2016 US Presidential Debates: Schedule Announced For Debates Between Party Nominees

The 2016 U.S. presidential debate schedule is now set and in place for party nominees to face off. Ahead of the 2016 general election, St. Louis, Dayton, and Las Vegas are going to each host a presidential debate. All three dates and locations were revealed and announced by the non-partisan Commission on Presidential Debates on Wednesday afternoon.

Wright State University did announce their excitement in being one of the host sites, and it will get first crack at the debates. The first will be on Monday, September 26 at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.

After that, the second debate will take place at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, on October 9. The third will happen on October 19, at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas. The Commission on Presidential Debates revealed the full schedule, including the Vice presidential debate.

First presidential debate:
Monday, September 26, 2016
Wright State University, Dayton, OH

Vice presidential debate:
Tuesday, October 4, 2016
Longwood University, Farmville, VA

Second presidential debate:
Sunday, October 9, 2016

Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY will serve as the backup site.

Commission co-chairs Frank Fahrenkopf and Mike McCurry released a statement announcing the dates for the 2016 US presidential debates, and they’re happy with the choices. The organization has sponsored all of the presidential debates since back in 1988.

“We appreciate the many applications we received and are delighted with the sites we have selected. We look forward to working with these fine universities and their students and communities to bring these important civic events to the nation.”

These debates do offer the only opportunity for the United States to see and hear the leading presidential candidates answer the same question on the serious issues. Many want to simply hear them answer together, at the same time, and play off of one another.

UNLV reported that Las Vegas has hosted primary debates in the past as well as presidential speeches and was also considered by political conventions by both the Republican and Democratic parties. It’s also an early caucus state and has a played a key role in the election process already.

The 2016 U.S. presidential debates now have a schedule set and in place, and it all begins next week. Prospective voters from around the country will finally be able to see how those such as Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump, Ben Carson, and Bernie Sanders differ on the critical issues.
