One Direction: Mixed Reviews For Roundhouse Show And ‘Infinity’

One Direction are back in the UK for the final leg of their “On The Road Again” world tour, which kicks off again at London’s O2 arena. Yesterday was a big day for One Direction and their fans as they dropped some pretty big news and played their smallest and most intimate show since 2011. One Direction’s big news is that their fifth album is to be called Made In The A.M. and the release date has been set for November 13. As previously reported in Inquisitr the release date sets up a battle for the No 1 spot with Justin Bieber, who is believed to be releasing his fourth album on the same day.

An announcement on One Direction’s website said that the album was available for pre-order immediately and those who paid up in advance were given access to a track from the album. “Infinity” is just the second track released from the album following on from the hit single “DragMe Down.”

Last night, One Direction played an intimate show at London’s Roundhouse in front of just 1700 fans. The gig was part of the Apple iTunes festival, and tickets were free and allocated by ballot. All in all, it was a pretty big day for One Direction and their fans. Liam Payne took to Twitter to share his excitement about the release of One Direction’s forthcoming album. Liam told his 21 million followers that he “can’t wait for them to hear it.”

Harry Styles made a rare post on Instagram to announce the release and included a picture of what may be the album cover.

On a big day for One Direction, they will have been hoping for great reviews of both their show and the new song. They may be disappointed to find that reviews are mixed. Billboard says that “Infinity” is more of the same and that it “can’t overcome its ham-fisted lyrics to gain any momentum,” they say the song is “humdrum” though they concede that the boys are “vocally accomplished.”

Speaking about last nights show at the Roundhouse the Telegraph says that One Direction are “weary” and that there appeared to be “an undercurrent of brotherly bickering” in a group who are “more weathered than their years.”

The Belfast Telegraph was a little kinder about One Direction’s performance, saying that they “stole the show.”
