Hero North Carolina Cop David Earp Saves Girls, 3 And 5, From Bizarre Intentional Drowning By ‘Pedophile’ Father

An off-duty North Carolina Durham County Sheriff’s Deputy, David Earp, is being hailed as a hero for his quick response to a bizarre incident that occurred at about 9 p.m. Sunday night.

“I was kind of shocked,” North Carolina Sheriff’s Deputy David Earp stated to WNCN. “When I first rolled up I heard a baby crying, and I thought to myself, ‘What in the world is going on?'”

A woman who is a resident at the Durham, North Carolina apartment complex, Audobon Lake Apartments, where Earp lives and serves as a courtesy officer, heard 29-year-old Alan Tysheen Eugene Lassiter walking around a community pond stating that his son had “run off” and that his daughters were in trouble. Lassiter is reported by TWC News to be a resident of Raleigh, North Carolina.

The resident alerted Deputy Earp to a problem in the pond. Earp and the resident then ran down to the pond and found three-year-old and five-year-old girls with their hands bound with shoelaces, close to drowning in darkness. Their seven-year-old brother was also thrown in the water, but was able to free himself and attempt to seek help.

“One kid [was] above water, crying,” Deputy Earp stated, “And then I saw another one who was completely submerged in water. So, I dropped some of my equipment and I immediately just ran into the water and grabbed both of them.”

Earp stated that he performed CPR on the three-year-old for a “good 15 to 20 minutes” until more officers and paramedics could arrive. Both girls were taken to the hospital. Reports indicate that the three-year-old was in “critical” condition.

Lassiter has been charged with three counts of attempted murder and is being held on a $2 million bond.

In his call to 911, Lassiter can be heard begging the dispatcher to please send help. He then explains that he has “pedophile” problems and “sexual urges,” which he needs help with and that Child Protective Services have been trying to take his children away. The NSFW audio is included here.

“I mean, when I hear that, it’s sickening,” the North Carolina Deputy states. “And I’m sure there has to be something mentally going on with the person to do such a thing to their child, or any child.”

Why the Raleigh, North Carolina resident was in Durham, and how he got there, remains unclear. Durham is approximately 25 miles north of the North Carolina capital. The community is said to be “quiet” and “safe” and residents are “shocked” that such an incident could take place.

“You know, it’s a lot different when it comes to kids. I mean, it really takes a toll on you,” the North Carolina Deputy was quoted.
