‘Blade’ Rave Will Be Recreated Down To The Last Drop Of Blood [Video]

In 1998, Blade, starring Wesley Snipes, began one of the most memorable vampire franchises, if not the most popular, for the film’s portrayal of vampires and for Snipes’ title character, a bada– half-vampire, half-mortal. Neither Blade nor the vampire villains were overly open with their feelings with anger being the possible exception and that maybe part of the appeal of the franchise. For whatever reason, the popularity of Snipes’ character has endured and this year’s New York Comic Con will host a rave based on that famous opening Blade scene, reports the L.A. Times.

BBQ Films is joining New York Comic Con in bringing the Blade blood rave to the New York Superweek pre-party, planning for the rave to be set up in Terminal 5, blood shower included. For those unfamiliar with the area, Terminal 5 is a music venue located in the area of N.Y.C. known as Hell’s Kitchen. The multi-level venue, located at 610 W 56th St, New York, NY 10019, has five separate rooms.

As if the Blade Rave, as it is officially being called, isn’t sounding cool enough already, fans can expect so much more than just a blood shower and 90s techno music. As Geek reports, BBQ Films organizes unique events like this and provides a complete experience for those interested in reliving a nostalgic era or just looking to interact with their favorite film characters.

“And most importantly, (synthetic) BLOOD RAIN from within Terminal 5. Step into the splash zone and experience the BLADE RAVE from the film!”

BBQ Films recently did a similar event, recreating Back to the Future‘s Enchantment Under the Sea Dance, and, as with the upcoming Blade Rave, the company provided actors to play characters from the film. The performers will act out scenes from the film, during the rave, and also stay on hand to interact with the ravers.

The Blade Rave will also feature professional dancers from The Dance Cartel, as well as sexy vampires provided by Poisonous Pin-Ups. Remember Deacon Frost’s roof-top lair? The one with the infinity pool? That will be provided as well. There will also be a screening of the film that started it all.

Stephen Dorff played that cool as ice villain and, while fans surely side with the heroic Blade to win the day, there’s no denying an admiration for evil Deacon Frost. It would certainly be fascinating to see actors recreate those two characters and to set them battling in the midst of a blood rain-soaked rave.
