North Carolina Father Charged With Attempted Murder After Trying To Drown Two Daughters – Aged 3 And 5 – In A Pond Because He Was Having Sexual Desires For Children

A North Carolina man is being charged with attempted murder after trying to drown his two daughters – aged three and five – in a pond because he was having sexual desires for the children, according to ABC 11. At approximately 9:45 p.m. on Sunday, Alan Tysheen Eugene Lassiter, 29, of Holloway Terrace in Raleigh called 911 dispatch and informed them that he had just drowned his children in a pond on 100 block of Shearwater Drive behind Audubon Lake Apartments.

“I just killed both of my daughters. CCS was trying to take my kids away from me because I was dealing with some sexual desires [towards children] I was trying to get help with. But instead they turned their back on me…the whole system and tried to take my kids,” Lassiter told a 911 operator.

“All I wanted was help. Nobody helped me. Instead they turned their back on me. The whole system, and tried to take my kids. I need somebody to go and break the news to my wife; I need an ambulance out there. She’s gonna be in shock, she’s gonna be in shock.”

Before police officials arrived at the scene, an off-duty officer witnessed the incident as he was passing by and pulled the two children – whose names have not been released – to safety. He performed CPR on both girls until the paramedics arrived. They were immediately taken to a local hospital where the 3-year-old girl remains in critical condition and the other was listed in stable condition.

Lassiter also tried to drown his 7-year-old son, but he was able to escape to a “nearby business” and seek help, according to WNCN.

“It’s very stressful for responders,” Police Chief Jose Lopez said. “Whether you have children or not you’re impacted by young lives placed in such a horrendous situation. We really feel for them.”

“That’s insane. Like, who would do that? It’s crazy,” said resident Debra Kay, who lives at the apartment complex near the lake where the father tried to murder his children.

Another resident, Rebecca Chelslock, said: “You think about your own children, like right away you think ‘gosh, my children are at that pond every day to go fishing,’ but we always go with them. It seems like there were some circumstances behind this; it wasn’t like ‘oh, a kid slipped in,’ there was definitely some circumstances going on.”

North Carolina police are currently investigating the incident and are trying to uncover why the father tried to murder his children near an apartment complex where he did not live.

Lassiter was arrested on Monday and taken to Durham County Jail on “three counts of attempted murder” charges. His bond was set $2.5 million.
