Spoiler Alert: Who Won American Idol Season 8

(Don’t continue reading if you don’t want to know the result.) It came down to Kris Allen and Adam Lambert on the final show of American Idol Season 8 tonight at Nokia Theater in Los Angeles tonight (May 20). Allen, the boy next door vs the glam and very much gay Adam Lambert. Lambert was the short priced favorite going into the season finale, but knowing who the winner is upfront doesn’t make for good television.
The two-hour show, with the result coming at the end included former Idol winners Carrie Underwood and David Cook, as well as Rod Stewart, Lionel Richie, Cyndi Lauper, Queen Latifah, Black Eyed Peas and Keith Urban.
100 million votes later, we got to the result: Kris Allen won.
Apparently America was more comfortable voting for the non-gay contestant, one who certainly has a lot of talent, but one that vocally at least wasn’t the superior choice.
Hopefully Adam Lambert will use the opportunity of not winning to launch a stellar career. We look forward to listening to his first album.

Kris wasn't the best vocally (perhaps) but I think America prefers Kris' (easy to listen to) pop rock music over Adam's loud 'shouty' rock music. In my opinion they were both equally talented but in very different ways, within their own musical styles/genres – and both deserved the win. America voted based on the music that they prefered listening to. The final vote was not talent-based but style-based. Both Adam & Kris are amazing artists & I look forward to buying both of their CDs.

Even the article is written with such a slant in Lambert's favor. Can't you all just rejoice with the winner because he has been VOTED as the winner, meaning that there are more people out there who like him and prefer his style of music.

What a sore loser ….. also displays what type of fans Adam has …. shameful and down right rude.

I am not surprised by the outcome of this contest. America voted and now she will get what she deserves.
I think the outcome really worked out for both of them. Kris gets the promotional push he needed and Adam is no longer restricted by the lameness of American Idol.
I wish them both the best of luck.

Sorry but i think that Adam Lambert was much more talented than Kris. The way he arranged songs was amazing. To me Kris is just another average voice just like all of the others out there. he will be the next Ruben Studdard and that other guy?? What was his name?? LOL Exactly!

“…America was more comfortable voting for the non-gay contestant…” Wow. Way to ascribe a motive to millions of Americans with absolutely no proof whatsoever. Bravo.

Votes are votes. Why must we always contest when who we want to win loses? It is the point of a democratic voting process to have winners and losers. I am ga y, but the fact that every time we 'lose' something we have to stage a protest and scream and yell (notice SFran in the news lately?) just gives those against us more fodder. Clay was proof you don't have to come in first to be the winner!!!
