Obama Honors Troops At Arlington National Cemetery On Memorial Day [Video]

President Obama laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns today at the Arlington National Cemetery, honoring veterans and fallen troops on Memorial Day.

The president was joined by first lady Michelle at the famous cemetery. Later today, Obama will speak at the Veitnam Veterans Memorial to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War.

During Obama’s weekly address earlier this week, he said:

“We have to serve them and their families as well as they have served us. By making sure that they get the health care and benefits they need; by caring for our wounded warriors and supporting our military families; and by giving veterans the chance to go to college, find a good job and enjoy the freedom that they risked everything to protect.”

The White House said that the United States had to do better at honoring its veterans. The president’s speech at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial today is expected to mark mark the beginning of a 13-year program to honor the veterans of Vietnam.
