‘Batman: Arkham Knight’ ‘Tumbler’ DLC, ‘GCPD Lockdown’ DLC Release This Week

Batman: Arkham Knight by game studio Rocksteady has already seen a fair bit of DLC, including packs that added Batgirl to the game, famous villains, new character skins, and more.

Also introduced at this point have been numerous Batmobiles from across Batman’s history, designed for use with Arkham Knight‘s popular racing mode, each coming with their own themed tracks. These include the 1989 Batmobile (from the Tim Burton film,) and a reimagining of the 1966 Adam West Batmobile.

Now, according to a report from Tech Times, a new DLC pack for Arkham Knight is coming up on September 22, and the biggest addition being teased is the Tumbler Batmobile from 2005’s Batman Begins and 2008’s TheDark Knight.

The Tumbler is an odd sort of Batmobile, looking (and performing) less like the typical sports car and more like a tank — the design is reminiscent of an ATV, and at least in the movies, carried a full arsenal — including twin machine guns. According to the movies, Bruce Wayne first acquired the Tumbler when he was reestablishing his connections to Wayne Enterprises. It’s described as a “prototype armored tank” designed for military bridging operations.

The Tumbler DLC also adds two new movie-inspired race tracks (as per Comicbook.com) to Arkham Knight, and it’s clear that the developers embraced the more rugged, violent Tumbler’s nature in designing them. The Tumbler is described as a “complete wrecking ball,” and the tracks were designed with destructibility in mind. The Tumbler can cause a vicious amount of destruction as it races about the track — especially with its companion rocket-launching helicopter.

The pack also includes an Arkham Asylum skin for Batman, but unfortunately, no skin for Christopher Nolan Batman.

Although reported release dates are somewhat confused, the GCPD Lockdown DLC will allegedly also be releasing on the 22. This pack follows up on the “Gunrunner” mission from the base Arkham Knight game, featuring Nightwing attempting to prevent The Penguin from breaking out of jail. This is the first released Nightwing solo predator mission, and will also be the first time in the series that Gotham City is seen in daylight.

The week after the Tumbler and GCPD Lockdown releases, another Arkham Knight DLC pack is allegedly coming out — the Crimefighter Challenge Pack No. 2. This pack will feature new combat maps for Batman, Catwoman, and Nightwing, and new predator maps for Batman and Robin. It will release on September 29.

All in all, so much DLC is being released for Arkham Knight that it’s hard to keep up — especially in the wallet division for players without a season pass. On the other hand, it’s good to see a studio dedicated to supporting its games.
