Elizabeth Warren Defends Black Lives, Planned Parenthood At Massachusetts Convention

Speaking at the Massachusetts Democratic Convention held at the MassMutual Center in Springfield yesterday, Senator Elizabeth Warren addressed a welcoming crowd and discussed the differences between Democrats and Republicans, Planned Parenthood, climate change, racism in the United States, and other issues.

The Inquisitr has reported on the “found” Harper Lee Go Set A Watchman manuscript, published by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp.-owned HarperCollins and the sullying of the name Atticus, which happens to be the name of Senator Warren’s grandson.

“And no matter how many dog whistles the Republicans blow, and no matter how much red meat they throw around,” Warren stated before an exuberant crowd, “Democrats believe that racism, sexism, and homophobia, that hatred, injustice, and bigotry have no place in our country and we’re willing to say out loud, ‘Black lives matter!’ and we’ll fight until there’s real change in this country!”

Planned Parenthood became the subject of national scrutiny in August when videos purporting to show Planned Parenthood workers negotiating the sale of the body parts of aborted fetuses emerged, as reported by the Inquisitr.

Republicans, such as Senator Rand Paul, Carly Fiorina, and others have promised to defund Planned Parenthood. President Barack Obama has vowed to veto any bills to defund Planned Parenthood, as reported by the Huffington Post.

“Rand Paul may try to shut down Planned Parenthood… the Democrats know that women have a right to basic health care and to make choices over own bodies! And we will fight for it!” Senator Warren declared to widespread ovation, hoots and whistles, with regard to the parenthood organization.

Two bills are making their way through U.S. Congress with the aim of defunding Planned Parenthood. The Planned Parenthood bill would reduce access to basic health care services for up to 630,000 men, women, and children.

“By eliminating Federal funding for a major provider of healthcare, H.R. 3134 would limit access to health care for men, women, and families across the Nation, and would disproportionately impact low-income individuals,” the White House said in a statement.

“Ted Cruz wants to repeal Dodd-Frank. The Democrats believe that giant Wall Street banks shouldn’t cheat families with billions in bailout money and we’ll fight for that,” Senator Warren told the energetic crowd in Massachusetts.

Some Democrats worry that Hillary Clinton’s low poll numbers lower the chances of Democrats holding on to office. Meetings between Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Warren in August resulted in speculation about a Biden-Warren 2016 ticket. Who would run for president and who for vice president has been a topic of hot debate.

Though Senator Warren has voiced that she has no desire to run, keeping Planned Parenthood running, stopping challenges to The Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, and upholding the rights of women, minorities, and unions would almost certainly be central to any presidential bid made by the popular Democrat.
