Bring Me The Horizon Want To Collaborate With One Direction

One Direction have seemingly found some new admirers. One Direction are known for melodic pop music, good looks, and their clean cut image. In recent months, there have been lots of stories about artists who would like to collaborate with One Direction. Nicki Minaj, Ed Sheeran, Wiz Khalifa, and Meghan Trainor are just a few of the major names from the world of pop music who have said they would love to collaborate with One Direction. It is not difficult to imagine a collaboration between any of those artists and One Direction.

It seems that U.K.-based rock band are also keen to tie up with Harry Styles and his mates. Fuse report that Bring Me The Horizon were taking part in a “Ask Me Anything” session on social media platform Reddit when a fan asked “if you could do a Linkin Park – Jay Z type collaboration, who would you do it with, and why?”

Incredibly, the band replied “J. Cole, and if he doesn’t want to do it, Crazy Town or One Direction.” It is difficult to imagine a more unlikely match up. Bring Me The Horizon’s roots are very much in the death metal and metalcore genre’s. They are a very long way from One Direction in terms of their musical style.

To be fair, Bring Me The Horizon’s music has softened through the years, their latest album That’s The Spirit was released just last week and missed out on the No 1 slot by just 1,300 sales. The album is more melodic and more accessible than previous offerings so perhaps they are keen to appeal more to the pop music market. One Direction could certainly teach many bands a little about achieving commercial success and building a large and loyal fan base.

The differences between One Direction and BMTH do not stop with their musical styles. The closest One Direction have come to creating real controversy came when Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik were allegedly seen smoking pot in a leaked video. According to NME Bring Me The Horizon frontman Oli Sykes is on record as saying that everyone should take illegal drugs at some point in their lives. He is especially keen for people to experiment with LSD.

“I don’t regret taking drugs – and I don’t know if I should say it, but everyone should do drugs at some point in their life.”

“You shouldn’t go through your life without experiencing acid, in my opinion. It used to be fun, it used to be an adventure. That’s why I did all those drugs.”

Sykes admits that he spent time in rehab as a result of an addiction to horse tranquilliser Ketamine. Sykes admits that his addiction made him want to kill himself. It is difficult to imagine One Direction getting into scrapes like this.

What do Inquisitr readers think? Could Bring Me The Horizon collaborate with One Direction or have BMTH just totally blown their credibility?
