Julia Roberts’ Pranking Reprieve: Why Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Matt Damon Stopped Playing Pranks

Julia Roberts is about as A-list a celebrity can be, so it’s no surprise that she has friends in high places. Counted amongst her closest personal friends are Brad Pitt, George Clooney, and Matt Damon. But these Hollywood heavyweights are not just casual acquaintances or people to make polite conversation with while at an awards ceremony: these fellow stars have played some pretty elaborate pranks on each other over the years.

Julia Roberts spoke with People about her close relationship with the three Hollywood superstars, and how she has always been treated like one of the boys when with her closest friends.

She went on to say, however, that all three men showed her their softer side during her pregnancy with twin son and daughter Phinn and Hazel.

“It was such a sweet shift in our relationships because originally, it was all pranks and teasing each other. And here I am pregnant, so it’s like pulling out my chair and just making sure I have enough water and, ‘Are you feeling okay? You look a little peaked.’ ‘I’m fine.'”

While Julia Roberts has a close relationship with her Hollywood co-stars, there is certainly nothing more going on behind the scenes than professional respect, friendship, and comradery. Julia Roberts is a devoted wife to her cinematographer husband, Danny Moder, with whom she has three children.

Julia Roberts has recently been working side-by-side with her husband on a new project, Secret in Their Eyes, where she plays the role of an FBI investigator struggling to cope after a murder that affects her personally. Julia Roberts described the filming of certain scenes as intensely emotional, and credited her husband for helping her get through some of the more difficult scenes.

“I don’t know if I would have succeeded in some of the efforts that I made if he hadn’t been in such close physical proximity to me,” she said. “There’s something about having the safest place in the world for you in the same room.”

Allure has reported that, given her time again, Julia Roberts would not choose to go into show business, despite her phenomenal success and notoriety in the industry. When asked if she would go into show business now if she was eighteen years old again, her reply was one of someone who is starting to feel a little exhausted with the pressures of Hollywood.

“No, I don’t think I could. Maybe it’s because I’m not 18 — I don’t have the same kind of energy — but it just looks exhausting.”

And when asked what is something she has long dreamed of doing, her answer proved once again that Julia Roberts is just a simple, natural person in the very best way.

“Knitting a pair of socks. I just haven’t figured out how to turn the heel. Socks are hard.”
