When Robert Pattinson signed on to star in David Cronenberg’s “Cosmopolis” the actor took a big step away from being the heartthrob of the “Twilight” franchise. But new rumors have surfaced that Pattinson could soon find his way into another frenzy of teenage fans by joining the cast of “The Hunger Games.”
When Lionsgate was asked about Pattinson starring in the sequel to the hugely popular movie, the company released a statement, saying:
“As with the first film, we won’t be confirming, denying on any casting rumors for this title.”
They didn’t confirm the rumor, but they didn’t shoot it down either.
Unfortunately for “Hunger Games” fans, Pattinson addressed the rumors himself during the Cannes film festival. Pattinson said that he initially believed the rumors but his agent said that they weren’t true.
“I woke up this morning and saw all these things about me being cast in The Hunger Games. I was kind of curious for a second. So I called my agent. My agent was like, ‘No. No one’s going to offer you that part.’ I was like, ‘Thanks for the reassurance.’”
Pattinson has received impressive reviews for his work in “Cosmopolis” and it’s likely that he’ll move on to more adult roles after the final “Twilight” movie hits theaters later this year.
