Watch New York Yankees Vs. New York Mets Live Online: Subway Series Could Be World Series Preview

In what could be a preview of the 2015 World Series, fans can watch the New York Yankees vs. New York Mets live online in an inter-league Subway Series — the latest the two teams have faced each other since they met in the 2000 World Series.

But with the Mets seeming ready to clinch the National League East sometime within a week, and the Yankees entering the Subway Series 5 1/2 games ahead of Minnesota in the American League Wild Card race, the New York rivals could be looking at another Fall Classic showdown.

To find out how to watch the middle game of the three-game New York Yankees vs. New York Mets Subway Series live online, see the streaming link in the final paragraph of this article. First pitch on Saturday, September 19, is set for 1:05 p.m. Eastern Time at the Mets home of Citi Field in Flushing, New York City, 10:05 a.m. Pacific Time.

Back in 2000, the Yankees were the dominant team of that era and their victory in the World Series would give the Bronx Bombers their third straight championship. This year, the roles are more or less reversed. The Mets appear to be the better team, with the Yankees looking to make their first playoff appearance in three years.

On Saturday, the Mets send rookie Noah Syndergaard to the mound. The six-foot, six-inch, 240-pound righty goes by the nickname “Thor,” and while his rookie season had not exactly been godlike, it has at least been more than solid.

The 22-year-old, acquired by the Mets in December, 2012, as part of the trade that sent Cy Young winner R.A. Dickey to the Toronto Blue Jays, brings a respectable 3.20 ERA into what will be his first career start against the Yankees, with 137 strikeouts and just 30 walks in 129 1/3 innings. But his weakness has been the long ball, surrendering 15 home runs in his 21 starts.

The Yankees counter with 26-year-old Dominican righty Michael Pineda, who has struggled over the past two months, allowing at least four earned runs in five of his last six starts, while lasting no more than six innings in any of those outings.
