Skydiving Fail: 80-Year-Old Grandma Nearly Falls Out Of Tandem Harness [Video]
Just because stuntman Gary Connery jumped out of a helicopter last week and safely landed without a parachute doesn’t mean that everyone’s ready for the extreme skydiving challenge.
An 80-year-old grandma, who was looking for a little excitement for her birthday, decided to go skydiving. Unfortunately, the woman got a little more excitement than she was hoping for.
A video popped up on Youtube earlier this week showing the elderly lady getting ready for her first skydiving attempt.
She’s heads up in the plane with the instructor, strapped together in a tandem harness, but things go wrong as soon as they jump.
The woman nearly falls completely out of the harness.
Luckily, the instructor was able to keep hold of the woman as they slowly made their descent.
Here’s the description from Youtube:
“Luckily this tandem instructor’s negligence ends without casualty. This 80 year-old grandma does a tandem skydive for her birthday and nearly falls out of the harness because it’s not properly adjusted prior to exit. Certainly not your typical tandem jump, but WOW is this scary. Barf.”
What makes the video worse is that you can definitely see the woman change her mind up in the air. She fights to stay on board but the instructor pushes her out of the plane.

I don't think a disclaimer will work in this situation. This woman should have been properly suited before they took her to jump. Who goes skydiving in their street clothes???

I don't know if they did a proper pre-jump inspection on her harness. You can clearly see her grabbing the sides of the door on the exit though, which is why I think she went into this awkward position in the first place. Good on the instructor to keep a hold of her even when he deploys the chute.

It wasn't his fault? He's responsible for her safety – period.
And this woman is clearly far from being an "old bag" – she has amazing spunk and the grace to not blame her instructor for his failings.
Christopher, perhaps you could learn a thing or two about grace from her if you let yourself.

Adam, the instructor did an amazing job getting her geriatric butt down to terra firma safely, despite the geyser having a complete meltdown. Did you somehow miss that? He fulfilled his duty, despite her graceless fetal curl. What this school should have learned, is to set an age limit for their customers.
