Alyssa Milano To Breastfeeding Critics: ‘I Don’t Care…I’m Going To Keep Breastfeeding’

Alyssa Milano has taken backlash again for posting pictures of herself breastfeeding her one-year-old baby, Elizabella, but the Charmed actress isn’t taking the photos down. In fact, Alyssa has some news for those that would insist the images of her breastfeeding her daughter are offensive, according to Entertainment Tonight.

“I don’t care,” Milano says. “I’m going to keep breastfeeding, maybe even until [Elizabella is] 6!”

In September 2014, Ms. Milano and husband Dave Bugliari welcomed Elizabella into their family, so Alyssa marked the occasion this week by posting a picture of herself breastfeeding her daughter in a natural, make-up free state.

“Happy Birthday, my beautiful Elizabella,” Milano captioned the picture. “You’ve taught me that my heart has no end. You were the missing piece to my soul. Thank you for choosing me.”

Ms. Milano noted the difference between how images of Alyssa breastfeeding her daughter are treated versus how readily society accepts images of public nudity, such as Miley Cyrus baring her nipple at the MTV Video Music Awards.

“Everyone’s fine with her nipples being out,” Milano says of Cyrus. “I think people are more comfortable sexualizing breasts than relating them to what they were made for, which is feeding another human.”

Alyssa, who also has a four-year-old son, Milo, admits she’s been changed by motherhood.

“When you have these babies, that connection is so meant to be and so profound,” Milano gushes. “You look at them and you go, ‘Oh, this is why. This is why I went through everything in my life.'”

Earlier this year, Alyssa was subjected to another ordeal over her breast milk, when she was detained by security at London’s Heathrow Airport, reports US Weekly. After the incident, Ms. Milano expressed her frustration via social media posts.

“I realize there are much larger issues going on in the world. And I don’t want to turn this into a bigger issue than it is but I will say this … breastfeeding my children has been one of the greatest joys of my life,” Alyssa said of the incident. “Every ounce of milk I’m able to produce for my child is nothing short of a miracle and to watch that milk be thrown away without any regard for my baby, was heartbreaking.”

Alyssa Milano was out promoting her new line of Viva Signature Designs Towels, which led to her revealing that Elizabella had become sick while the family was viewing vacation rentals.

“Thank God I have the husband that I have and that we laugh together about everything,” Milano said. “[Elizabella] projectile-vomited all over the back of this realtor’s car.”
