Nicole Richie’s father, singer Lionel Richie, is once again taking the media to task over the rumors of his daughter’s impending divorce. In an interview with E!, Richie addressed divorce rumors that surround his daughter’s marriage to Joel Madden.
When asked about those pesky divorce rumors, the singer said, “I’m going to set the record straight. They are so happy.”

This isn’t the first time Lionel spoke about his daughter’s marriage to Joel Madden. The pair, who have two children together, have been quiet about the rumors, but Lionel has stepped up to speak openly about their marriage.
In an interview with Hello! magazine, Lionel sounded off, saying, “They’ve bought a new house and the moving van was pulling up at their old house to move to the new one. Hence the story they are breaking up.”
Back in June, Lionel Richie spoke about the new house that Nicole and Joel were moving into. “I went over to the new place recently and there were the Pup-pups –otherwise known as my grandchildren– running around all excited showing me their new yard and their new pool.”

As the Inquisitr reported via Daily Mail, Nicole and Joel were spotted having a “tense meeting” while eating pizza. In the report, it was said that Richie looked concerned while Madden looked frustrated. The two were also photographed with Richie reportedly hiding her ring finger, which sparked rumors. When the Inquisitr reported on the story, we pointed out that it looked like she was just trying to keep warm on a cold day in Los Angeles.
As for Lionel Richie, it looks like he’s going to be able to bond better with the family. The singer just announced that he will have a residency in Las Vegas at Planet Hollywood, the venue that Britney Spears currently calls home. The 20-show residency begins on April 27, 2016, and tickets go on sale on September 18th.
While on the Today Show to announce his residency, Lionel spoke about his family, and he said they will be in Las Vegas every now and then to see his show. “We are going to have so much fun in Vegas. The family is excited because we probably get to do a little bonding here.”
