Carly Fiorina’s Graphic Planned Parenthood Video Details Weren’t Honest
Carly Fiorina’s passionate and graphic discussion about Planned Parenthood at the second GOP presidential candidate debate made her stand out among her competitors, but the details she provided about the Planned Parenthood videos were not honest.
Carly Fiorina’s graphic Planned Parenthood video details weren’t honest, but it isn’t clear whether she deliberately lied about the content of the videos or perhaps she saw a different video than the videos under fire.
Fiorina explained what she saw on a Planned Parenthood video at the debate.
“I dare, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, to watch these tapes. Watch a fully formed fetus on the table, its heart beating, its legs kicking, while someone says we have to keep it alive to harvest its brain. This is about the character of this nation!”
In reality, the Planned Parenthood videos in question do show some Planned Parenthood employees handling the tissues from the bodies of aborted babies, but there is no scene of an alive baby, kicking with its heart beating. No one talks about harvesting brains in these videos like Carly Fiorina claims.
Fiorina was interviewed by George Stephanopoulos on Good Morning America the morning after the second Republican debate.
He said, “Another powerful moment last night was when you talked about those Planned Parenthood tapes. But analysts who’ve watched all 12-plus hours say the scene you’ve described, that harrowing scene you described, actually isn’t in those tapes. Did you misspeak?”
According to a transcript of Good Morning America posted on NewsBusters, Carly said she didn’t misspeak and she didn’t think a lot of people watched those tapes, especially Democrats who still defend Planned Parenthood. She reiterated her dare to the U.S. president and Hillary Clinton to watch the tapes.
“Well, you know, there’s a lot of commentary about these tapes being doctored. In fact, that’s what the mainstream media keeps talking about is the tapes and their origins. Rest assured, I have seen the images that I talked about last night. Rest assured that human lives are being aborted, fully formed, in order to harvest body parts. Rest assured that this erodes at the character of our nation. And once again I will say I dare Mrs. Clinton and President Obama, two defenders of Planned Parenthood, to watch these videotapes.”
It is unclear whether Carly Fiorina’s graphic Planned Parenthood video details touched a nerve enough to impact her numbers in the polls just yet.
