Haslett Schools In Michigan On Lockdown, Shots Fired [Breaking]
Update 9:46 a.m.: The official lockdown of Haslett Public Schools has been lifted according to Superintendent Mike Duda, but the doors of the schools will remain locked for the entire day, and students will be required to remain in the buildings.
Update 9:34 a.m.: According to an HOM report, an off-duty police officer took off in pursuit of a man in a grey or silver Honda matching the description of the suspect, and police have been dispatched to assist. A report of a man in a fedora at a bus stop ended up going nowhere. The man at the bus stop was not the suspect. Latest reports say that schools will likely remain on lockdown throughout the day.
Police perimeter is broken down, crews will still be in the area searching. Schools will remain on lock down today.

Update 9:26 a.m.: Reports indicate that police have cleared the area of Haslett Rd and Cornell. Police believe that the suspect has fled the scene. The lockdown should be lifted by the next update, according to reports.

Update 9:24 a.m.: According to a tip, Meridian Township police say that the lockdown will be ending soon. Latest information does not reveal additional details.
Original Story: All Haslett Schools in Michigan are on lockdown this morning as police are on a manhunt for a male suspect in Meridian Township. Meridian Township police say they are looking for a man, presumed armed, on the loose near Haslett Road and Cornell. Police told WILX News that shots have been fired. The suspect on the loose is said to be wearing a fedora hat and dark clothing. He is wearing a backpack. All of the Haslett Schools are on lockdown, but staff are allowing students to enter the buildings for their safety. Anyone who spots someone they believe could be the suspect should call 911.

All buildings in the Haslett school district are currently on lockdown status. Police say that the suspect broke into two vehicles. One of the vehicles had a shotgun in it, which the suspect allegedly stole from the vehicle, according to the Lansing State Journal. Meridian Township police are on site at all school buildings while the manhunt continues. The Inquisitr will keep readers posted on this developing story.
