Christie Brinkley, John Mellencamp Enjoy First Date, But Can Model Measure Up To John’s Praise For Ex Meg Ryan? [Photos]
Christie Brinkley and John Mellencamp just soared to the top of the hot new couple alert list. At 61, Christie still looks fit and fabulous, and Brinkley turned heads when the supermodel apparently selected Mellencamp, 63, as the perfect dinner companion for a night out in the Big Apple, reported Entertainment Tonight.
Dining at the Bowery Hotel in New York City, Christie and the musician also shared a flair for rocking it while dressing down. Brinkley donned sneakers and jeans, and John looked jaunty in short-sleeved jacket. The supermodel beamed with joy throughout the enchanted evening.
Christie arrived after Mellencamp, and the duo were in public for an hour before taking off together in John’s auto, which was driven by a chauffeur. An observer noted that Brinkley’s back was caressed by the musician as he sauntered behind his supermodel date.
So are they totally new as a dating duo? Yes, and no, because Christie and John were at a special screening of the new Bill Murray comedy, Rock the Kasbah, in August. (The film premieres next month). But a source said in terms of dating, this is their debut public appearance as a couple.
“It’s not like that. This is the first time they’ve ever been out together,” said an insider.
Prior to apparently dating Brinkley, John spent three years with Meg Ryan. The two broke up, then reunited, then split again.
As for Christie, she divorced Peter Cook in 2008. Brinkley admitted that dating is challenging as she gets older and wiser.
“It seems like during this period that most of the guys are like 38, 39, 42, like that sort of age group. It’s funny because I think that at that age they have nothing to prove. They’re very confident and do just what they want to do. [With] men my age I feel quite invisible to them. I think a ten year span is fine.”
But Christie may have some challenges when it comes to living up to Meg Ryan’s reputation in Mellencamp’s views, reported Us Weekly.
“I’m very happy with the time I’ve spent with Meg Ryan,” said the musician after they split. “She’s a beautiful girl and I know that I will never, ever, ever be with a funnier girl than her. Not gonna happen. I’m grateful for the three-and-a-half years we’ve been together.”
As for Brinkley, in addition to Cook, she was married in the past to Billy Joel and Richard Taubman.
