Minnesota Vikings Fan Gets Jumped By San Francisco 49ers Fans

An NFL Monday night football game turned brutal outside of Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, when a group of San Francisco 49ers fans attacked a Minnesota Vikings fan in a sports brawl. The incident, caught on video and posted on Facebook, quickly went viral.

The New York Daily News reports that after the San Francisco 49ers beat the Minnesota Vikings with a score of 20-3 last night, a man wearing a red Adrian Peterson jersey was filmed while he was kicked and punched in the face and head numerous times by several San Francisco 49ers fans just outside of Levi’s Stadium. The victim attempted to get up, but even after an event staffer arrived to help, the 49ers fans still snuck in a few more shots.

Eventually, the Vikings fan, who hasn’t been identified yet, stumbled to safety with the help of a security guard.

Brandon Cosio, a 49ers fan, originally posted the video on his Facebook page, stating that the Vikings fan was “talking smack” and got a well-deserved beatdown. Yet, after the video went viral, Cosio added an in-depth explanation to the video, indicating that the Vikings fan instigated the issue.

“A lot of fans from both sides were telling both people to stop and just walk to their cars. The Viking fan shoved his wife into a barrier to try to get to the 49er fan, then at that point the 49er fan walked away from the situation and that’s when the Viking fan may have got a little cocky. The Viking fan turned around and addressed everyone behind him (mostly 49er fans). He said ‘what’s up, any of you f****** want some?!’ At that point everyone went silent for 2 seconds then as the Viking fan was turning around to walk away, the 49er fan in the black (at the beginning of the video who threw the first punch) tackled him to the ground. That’s where the video starts.”

Regardless of how the fight started, many people who commented on the video agreed that kicking a man in the head while he’s down, such as what happened to the Vikings fan, is uncalled for. Other people were upset that a handful of 49ers fans ganged up on one man, stating that no one could expect a fair fight that way.

No arrests were made, and according to Cosio, no police arrived at the scene at all. However, the Santa Clara, California Police Department confirmed today that they did indeed see the video but didn’t comment any further.

“ZERO cops were on the scene. ZERO. Santa Clara Police Department were nowhere to be found. Hopefully they can show up and arrest the parties in this video.”

This isn’t the first time fans in California have been involved in a sports brawl. A 2011 fight that occurred between fans of the MLB teams Los Angeles Dodgers and a San Francisco Giants fan left one man, Brian Stow, permanently disabled, and another man, Louie Sanchez, behind bars for assault.
