NFL Power Rankings Week 2: Packers Rewarded, Colts Punished

NFL power rankings for Week 2 reveal a shuffled top 10. The new power rankings are from NFL.com, where the Green Bay Packers have been rewarded for a big Week 1 victory. Beating the Chicago Bears pushed the team past the Seattle Seahawks and into the top spot for Week 2. The Seahawks, after losing in overtime to the St. Louis Rams, fell to the No. 3 spot. That’s not a huge drop for the two-time defending NFC champs, showing NFL.com still has a lot of respect for the Seahawks’ roster.

The rest of the top 5 has the New England Patriots at No. 2, the Kansas City Chiefs up to No. 4, and the Arizona Cardinals up to No. 5. Falling out of the top 5 were two teams that tumbled way down the Week 2 NFL power rankings. The Indianapolis Colts fell from No. 3 down to No. 10 with a loss to the Buffalo Bills, and the Pittsburgh Steelers fell from No. 8 to No. 13 after losing the season opener to the Patriots. Both teams seem strong enough to rebound in these rankings.

Quarterback Tyrod Taylor led the Buffalo Bills to a 27-14 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, September 13. It was a statement game that included a 24-0 lead in the third quarter that allowed the Bills to coast the rest of the way. The team became the biggest movers in the latest NFL power rankings, going from No. 17 all the way up to No. 6. That’s an 11-spot jump that shows NFL.com may have underrated the Bills a bit this season.

The rest of the top 10 has the Cincinnati Bengals at No. 7, the Dallas Cowboys at No. 8, the Denver Broncos at No. 9, and the Colts at No. 10. That’s four teams that are considered strong playoff contenders and should be moving up the NFL power rankings in the coming weeks. Other notable teams making moves this week are the San Diego Chargers up to No. 11 and the St. Louis Rams residing at No. 12 after beating the Seahawks.

As for the teams ranked as the worst in the league, they are the Jacksonville Jaguars at No. 28, followed by the Washington Redskins at No. 29, the Oakland Raiders at No. 30, the Cleveland Browns at No. 31, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at No. 32. The Buccaneers not only fell behind the Browns in the latest 2015 NFL power rankings, but also got ridiculed by NFL.com. It was said that the Bucs defense “would not have stopped the University of North Texas on Sunday.”
