‘Mary Poppins’ Live Action Film Announced: Anne Hathaway A Favorite, And Twitter Reacts

No matter how old you are, odds are you might have grew up singing the score of Mary Poppins. Earlier, the Inquisitr reported that the live action film, which starred Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke, is now being remade.

Blame it on Rob Marshall’s success with adapting the Sondheim classic Into The Woods, or the resurgence of the film thanks to Broadway’s Mary Poppins, either way, this live action film just got the greenlight.

After the news hit the web that Mary Poppins was going to be remade, the Internet reacted in a spectacular way — they were very angry. According to the Internet (or well, just Twitter), no one is feeling this impending remake from Rob Marshall.

Since everyone has lost their minds about the remake, we’ve learned that actress Anne Hathaway is the favorite to take on the role of Mary Poppins.

According to Entertainment Weekly, BoyleSports, a “betting firm” said that Hathaway is the ultimate favorite, while actresses such as Emily Blunt, Amy Adams, Anna Kendrick, and Kristen Bell are also in the running. According to EW, the film “will take place in Depression-era London, some 20 years after Disney’s classic 1964 Mary Poppins, and will draw from existing Poppins tales in the rest of author P.L. Travers’ children’s book series.”

As for what people think about Anne Hathaway as Mary Poppins, some are mixed.
