Kristen Stewart: Robert Pattinson Split Was ‘Incredibly Painful’

Kristen Stewart recently spoke out about her new film Equals, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. According to the Daily Beast, Stewart and co-star Nicholas Hoult had recently gone through very serious break-ups (Hoult was dating actress Jennifer Lawrence), and though Stewart says that her split from Robert Pattinson was “painful,” she admits that filming Equals was good for her — and for Hoult.

“It was incredibly painful. Ugh, [expletive] kill me. It was a really good time for both of us to make this movie. Not all of my friends have been through what I’ve been through, or what some people have tasted at a relatively-speaking young age, and we were not expected to do anything. Everything that we did was explorative, and a meditation on what we already knew.”

Kristen Stewart, 25, cheated on Robert Pattinson with Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders. The Twilight co-stars split for a short time before giving their relationship another go. It is believed, however, that Pattinson could not forgive Stewart for what she had done. The two went their separate ways for good in 2013.

Stewart and Pattinson went through a lot together and really were each other’s first loves. This film forced Stewart to face some of her past and to relive some of those feelings. Knowing about those feelings first hand ended up doing her “some good” after all.

“We all felt akin by how much we’ve been through, and to utilize that is so scary. And to acknowledge it, reassess, and jump back into it? Usually you want to move on. But at least we could use some of that for some good. This movie was a meditation on firsts, and a meditation on maintaining, and a meditation on the ebbs and flows of what it’s like to love someone—your feelings versus your ideals, the bursting of bubbles, the shattering of dreams you thought were possible, and what you have to contend with as things get more realistic… Relationships. You just never [expletive] know.”

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson have both moved on from one another. Stewart is rumored to be dating visual effects producer Alicia Cargile, according to Us Weekly. Robert Pattinson has found love after heartbreak as well and is engaged to singer FKA Twigs.

Robsten fans are losing hope for a possible reunion, but who knows what will happen down the road?
