Slammed For Tribute: Most Scathing Part Of Adrian Grenier’s 9/11 Message Missed By Nearly Everyone

On Saturday, the Inquisitr reported on the frenzy surrounding an Entourage star, Adrian Grenier, 9/11 “tribute.” Social media users flocked to Grenier’s Instagram feed, slamming him for what many have found to be an offensive tribute, which has now been taken down.

In the post, which many found in poor taste owing especially to the fact that Grenier made it on September 11, Grenier states that “2,996” Americans perished on 9/11 and “1,455,590” innocent Iraqis died.

It appears that Grenier choose the highest, among a range, of figures when accounting for Iraqi deaths, which are certainly important, and deserve attention. However, whether choosing September 11 as the date to point the fact out was appropriate is a subject a hot debate.

Grenier’s Iraqi death tribute figure is reported on Just Foreign Policy. The Huffington Post calculates the total is “nearly” 500,000. In any case, it is a large number, and death is never good.

However, what everyone seems to be missing, and this is very important, is that 2,977 victims died at the hands of al-Qaeda terrorists on 9/11, not “2,996.” The 2,996 figure includes the 19 al-Qaeda backed hijackers.

What is more scathing? Rolling the deaths of the dastardly perpetrators of the most heinous attack on American soil ever in with the deaths of the innocents who lost their lives or memorializing between 500,000 and (by Grenier’s figures) 1.46 million dead, of whom many were also innocent civilians?

Not all on social media slammed Grenier’s tribute. However, it appears that almost everyone, both Grenier supporters and detractors alike, missed what would seem to be the most offensive part of his tribute.

And it’s not like the information is hard to come by, for Grenier, for his supporters, or for those who have slammed him. A quick search on Google for “9/11 deaths” returns the correct figures and breakdown.

How could Grenier and so many Americans, who saw the numbers on Grenier’s tribute, and who obviously hold such information as important, all get it wrong? And so wrong?

Of the victims, 246 were passengers on the hijacked airliners, 2,606 were in the Twin Towers, and 125 were at the Pentagon, according to two separate reports from CNN.

Further, an almost unknowable number have died from sickness related to toxins inhaled by burning debris from both the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, including many firefighters, police officers, paramedics and other emergency rescuers. RT has looked at police officers who have died post-9/11.

In August, the Inquisitr reported on the passing of “Dust Lady” Marcy Borders, a woman immortalized in a photo that has been recognized around the world. Borders’ name and the names of hundreds or possibly thousands like her, are not reflected in the 2,977 figure.
