When speaking to Liz about Austin Matelson and John McGuire (Johnny Mac), Vanessa says that one of them will make the final three and one will win. At this point, there is no reason to lie to Liz. This makes it seem like Vanessa is sure that both houseguests will stay in the BB17 house through the eviction ceremony. It is the complete opposite of what Vanessa was telling John on Saturday night, September 12.

The Veto ceremony has taken place since then, with John saving himself by using the Veto he won. Vanessa named Austin as the replacement nominee, leaving Steve Moses and Austin as the two houseguests in danger this week. Somehow, the plan has started to shift in another direction based on what Vanessa just told Liz Nolan.
