Pikesville Kiss: Boy Arrested After Kissing Girl, Incident Sparks Outrage

An incident that is being dubbed the “Pikesville kiss” has triggered widespread outrage among parents because police arrested a 13-year-old boy for allegedly kissing a 14-year-old girl against her will. Not only was the boy arrested for a kiss, he now faces a second-degree assault charge, a report from WJLA revealed.

According to a report from the Baltimore County Police Department, the incident happened Wednesday morning at Pikesville Middle School in Pikesville, Maryland. ABC News reported that the boy is accused of grabbing the unnamed 14-year-old girl by her shirt, and forcing her to kiss him. The kiss was described as being an open-mouth kiss that involved the boy’s tongue, according to police.

The boy later told officials that the “Pikesville Kiss” was the result of a dare made by other students. Police say the girl was an unwilling participant, which lead to the assault charge, even though she was unharmed.

Although he was charged, he was not taken to the precinct, and authorities released the boy to his mother at the school. Baltimore County schools spokesman Mychael Dickerson said the boy possibly faces school disciplinary action for violating the code of conduct, the report states.

The children involved in the incident were not identified due to their age, and both are said to be eighth grade students at the school. Speaking with reporters, other parents at the school felt like the assault charges were unnecessary.

Citing a report from Fox Baltimore, UPI wrote that one woman said, “I don’t know if an unwanted kiss is a second-degree assault of a person.”

Another parent also expressed his view on the situation and he said the school should have handled the situation first without getting police involved “and then, if the parents want to press charges, then there’s nothing else that can be done.”

The Pikesville kiss brings to mind an equally ridiculous incident that involved a 6-year-old boy from Colorado, who was suspended from school for kissing a girl on the hand. First-grader Hunter Yelton reportedly had a crush on a girl, so he decided to show his affection with a kiss. As reported by CNN, school officials took drastic measures and not only suspended the boy, Hunter now has “sexual harassment” on his school record.
